Thank you, Wounded Knight, for your feedback.
Almost all of the action is in Europe, but there is a great deal of "dead space" including the Americas and Africa. This really slows things down a lot and takes away from the enjoyment of the game. I think it would be better if your map reflected the scenario's goal -- "Europa Universalis."
"Europa Universalis" refers to the fact that the whole world, not just the European continent, was affected by European actions, which I am unable to represent with the current map; I only give a chance to conquer African coastal areas and the New World, only a small portion of the world. My point is, however, that colonization of the foreign lands was one of the major factors for some countries in Europe to rise in the status of major power. Take England, for example: after the bloody civil war, the country was in ruins. Only after it had colonized east coast of N.America and established trading posts and colonies in Asia, it was able to compete with other major powers of Europe. My question is, how you can represent this status otherwise than colonizing? Only option would be conquest, which would be unhistorical.
However, I can see your point. I'm aware of the loading time and quite fustrated with them myself. As a scenario designer and creator, it''s very hard to give up something I have created, if you can understand. There has been severl suggestions to decrease the map size and units in numbers. This would affect ot only to scenario loading times, but also to chance the AI would really colonize foreign lands.
I'm looking forward to make a new, smaller map with less units and, (unfortunately) less nations.
