SCENARIO: "The Cold War - 1961 AD" for C3C

Dont give NK or viet that would ruin part of the soviet allies and anyways you could just give them a new unit :egypt:

Awesome senerio. Just a few typos. The Soviet guy's name is "Nikita Khrushchev", Habana is "Havana", and the "Chinese People's Republic" is "People's Republic of China".

It'll be nice if you got different unit graphics for the Warsaw Pact and Nato, different tanks and stuff

Hehe ... sounds like fun you're having! ;)

Have you found NATO is really that much stronger than the Warsaw Pact?

When I tested it, I thought it is acceptably balanced, as the war weariness on the side of the NATO makes up for the number of wonders they have.

But well, it looks like I have to have a closer look on it again. For the next version, I'll have to think of a solution for that ... I'll definately give the USSR more wonders ... maybe reducing the number of NATO airports is a good idea as well.

Do you have further suggestions?

SimPathy, real quick I would like to say, your Scenario's, ALL 3 are the only 1's Ive played for more then half a Turn. In fact your Scenario's are the only 1's Ive completed a Turn on! Very Nice Job. I have put quite a bit of my Civ3 experience on your Scenario's. My fav is the WW2, I also like cold War. And Age of Imperialsm ive played twice as English and Russia. I have many games going for (EACH) of the 3 Scenario's. After I go into the editor and click restore default rules. :D Then add my changes Fighter AirCraft equal att & def, Stealth Bomber def of 4, Helicopter Range of 8, and Tundra melts to Grassland. Ive NEVER played anyone else's Scenario's FYI, and I dont like extra units.

I guess i exzagerated a little about Nato's strenght, but yes, Nato is a quite a bit stronger.

I have a request. Your Scenario's, all 3 are worth playing Multiplayer. The map is Big, and I dont have to put 50+ hours into a Multiplayer game to get to the more Modern Times, on that size of Map. Im sick of Medieval War's, its time for the real deal, Modern, Multiplayer. Since Multiplayer only allows 8 civs, I think you should go in and REDO all three Scenario's for 8 player Multiplayer. You could have 2 Versions to Download for each Scenario, Single Player, witch you allready have rdy. And another link below for Multiplayer witch only has 8 Civs. That way I dont have to go in and trim it out, witch is why and the (ONLY) reason why I still have not played it Multiplayer. And EVERYONE else could enjoy it Multiplayer too. I started to trim up the WW2 Scenario by reassinging cities to other Civs to cut it down to 8 Civs but never finnished. It dosent have to be exact, just try to make all 8 Civs kinda equal. If the cities are owned by the Arabs and u need to get rid of that Civ, who cares, give em to The Romans, or better yet, Germans and English, and get rid of Romans. I think this is a great Idea, and I know that other people will play it Multiplayer too.

Im counting on You.

BTW, hears a couple of Pics of my CURRENT game. post's 72-77

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that. :)

I guess I think about scenarios the way you do - I don't care that much for extra units, techs and graphics. They may be nice, but the original game is good enough for a historical scenario. ;)

That's a good idea indeed.

I've almost completed an new version of "The Cold War" with a lot of changings (there are several new Civs now like Israel, Brazil, non-aligned states; building settlers is allowed now except on tundra and desert). I think I'll make a multiplayer version of that scenario and include it into the new version.

I'll post the new version within the next few days.

This is a nice scenario, SimPathy. I still play it. Just made a flag pack for El Justo's version of your Age of Imperialism Scenario. Would like to make one for this scenario, too.

I've worked on a Cold War scenario briefly and I planned to place guerillas with hidden nationality in places where one side or the other tried to overthrow governments.

one of the ways to model some of the stuff that was going on in Africa would be to use culture and flips - i.e. culture is actually the perception of "threat" then you could have buildings like "insurgent training facility" or "missile base" which would be a culture producing building. Well established countries would have higher culture, whereas the weaker ones African would have lower culture. Not sure that this mechanism would work well, but is something to consider.
