Score

Is that harder to differentiate than 270, 270, 270, 280, 260, 270? I'm apparently the only one that *likes* the new scores. I only use score to show relative power between civs and it always seemed so arbitrary that you started with a seemingly random number of points. Having a rebalanced score actually seems to give me a better picture of each civ's relative power.

Well its more than just scaled down though as far as I was aware. I used to at least be able to see differentiation between the civs. Don't get me wrong I'm all for seeing a score that is more accurate, I just dont like that the numbers are much lower and so close together.

At turn 277, (when the darn Incas won a cultural victory) my game score was only 197 points, even though I'd conquered everyone else on my fairly large continent and had fourteen full fledged cities up and running.
I did not intend to reduce final scores, only shift the proportion of what we get from which source. What do you estimate we should scale the total to? Would you previously have 500 score at that point... 1000? I can easily multiply the scores by any value. :)

Is it possible to have 3 or 4 scores?

Culture - Science - Conquest = Overall

Perhaps the three as a hover over?

I'd vote for a scale of 1000.

Is the score supposed to be a method to determine how much you have created? Meaning everytime you build, purchase, add something to your empire you get points for that? Or is it supposed to be more of a guide to percentage of acomplishment of a goal?

If you broke each VC out and had a percentual based score of each and put the higest of those as your overall score then you could get something that was fairly acurate as a guage to who was in the lead.

However simply assigning a random points value to each thing you produce is always going to be skewed.

Player A:
Culture = 75% (27 of 36 policies selected)
Science = 50% (20 of the ~40 tech needed)
Conquest = 10% (0 Capitals conquered)
Diplomatic = 20% (2 out 10 CS's)

Overall = 75% (best score)

Player B:
Culture = 50% (18 of 36 policies selected)
Science = 50% (20 of the ~40 tech needed)
Conquest = 30% (2 out 10 Capitals conquered include your own)
Diplomatic = 70% (7 out 10 CS's)

Overall = 70% (best score)
