Note the English city in the south of India. They have captured it themselves, which is an achievement for the Warlords AI. And have pity on poor France for a minute. BTW, is that me or England in BTS is a bit weaker them England in Warlords, because of the Dutch, that colonize South Africa and Australia?

They did actually invade it. I saw the message of city capturing. And there were no congresses so far anyway.

I gave the AI's some extra Colonists.

Also notice German Russia (the Germans captured St. Peterburg and Novgorod before the Russians collapsed). And the Persian Empire. (Althrough Persia gobbles up the Independent cities by land, and the AI's are always reasonably capable of doing that).

Figure this would be as good a place as any to ask this.

Playing as Rome here, why do I have 2 stars for expansion? I have Gaul, Greece, the Balkans, Asia Minor, North Africa and Egypt (and Spain as my vassal)...All of this territory Rome had historically at one point or another, shouldn't I be at 4-5 stars?

I'm not an expert on what is defined in-game as Rome's designated historical area, but my guess would be that at your point in history (1700s AD) when that screenshot was taken, Rome isn't supposed to still control all of that area.

Good job for getting through the spawning of France, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Turkey though with such a large Roman empire.

Nope, Rome (the Western Empire at least) fell in 476AD but the thing is, this isn't a straight historical simulation so ancient civs are allowed to survive if they can manage it. As far as I can tell, this should not change your historical area that you are allowed to expand in without a stability penalty.

Otherwise, it would make no sense to play Rome or any of the ancient civs after they pass the date they fell in history.

yes, but it depends on how you achieved such extension. There's a permanent gain or loss of points on city taken or lost
