Okay, this is a minor point, but I had some time to kill so I'll ask about it. When I display the screen shots of the day, they show up fine while loading, but as soon as the pic is finished loading the size shrinks and the text becomes unreadable. Running IE 5.5 (I think) on a network. I've noticed this same phenomenon (pic size shrinking once fully loaded) on other pics on the site, but don't usually have text so hasn't been a problem. Anyone got an idea why or how to fix?

P.S. if this is not the proper forum, please move.

You may want to look for this icon (usually at the bottom right corner) and click on it, then the SOTD should work well for you. :)

Uh, I just can't seem to get the pic right... so much for my first pic upload...

Oh, thats what that thing is! I think my IE was updated a few days ago when I got my sbc dsl :)

Thanks for the help, those who've responded. I managed to find the "enable picture resize" and turn it off, so now the images don't shrink to fit. I cannot find the little icon to resize it, however. Even after restarting Explorer. I actually checked and we are running IE 6.0. Can anyone help me find the resize icon, or tell me how to go about doing it?

I use IE 6.0 too. When you move your mouse cursor onto the pic, you will see a small toolbox at the top left corner, which has 4 icons that allow you to do quick save, printing, etc. The small resize icon at the bottom right (attached in my previous post) should appear the same way. If you don't see it, move your mouse away from the pic then move it back on. :)

Okay, now I know what that little picture toolbar is. I have seen it before but didn't realize what it was. The resize button you have indicated I'm still not seeing, however. Not on the pic toolbar; not on the lower right, either in the pic or on the status bar. Does it need to be turned on or activated somewhere?

Does this one makes it easier to find the icon? I don't know why you can see the toolbox but not the icon on the bottom right...

Or, just follow Padma's instructions. :)

I can't find an "enable picture resize." I have "enable automatic picture resize" unchecked, and have checked "enable picture toolbar," but these seem to be the only things under media on the tools/options/advanced menu that I can find that might relate. Still not seeing the resize icon

I think that's what Padma was talking about...

I have both the "enable automatic image resize" and "enable picture toolbar" checked. Did you restart your computer? The "enable picture toolbar" option requires your computer to be restarted before it functions. :)

I have to restart my computer?!? I thought it just meant to restart IE. I'm leaving in a few minutes for a meeting, so I'll try a restart and see what I get when I get back.

I am getting the little toolbar with the 4 icons in the upper left, just not seeing the resize button in the lower right, so I assumed the picture toolbar was on??

Yes, I meant "enable automatic picture resize". If it is not checked, then the pictures will display actual size, requireing you to scroll left/right to see large ones. If it is checked, then the picture will be resized (shrunk) to fit your browser window, with the results you noted in the first post. However, since it is resized, the "resize icon" will be displayed in the lower right, which, when clicked on, will zoom the picture to its actual size.

And yes, if you see the 4 icons in the upper left, the picture toolbar is on.

:)

I believe the "restart" means to restart the computer, not just to restart the IE.

So now the upper left picture toolbar is on. I'm not very sure about that, but I guess the resize icon should appear if you have the "enable the automatic image resize" on as an option, in case the automatic resize doesn't work the preferred way.

If it still doesn't work after you restart the computer, then there is probably nothing I can help any further... :(

Okay, turned "automatic resize" back on, and now I see the resize button display when hovering the mouse over the picture. [dance] Thanks a ton Padme, morkaphi and Silverflame for walking me through all this.
