Hi,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before. Please do not flame me. I have scanned the maps files but can't find what i'm looking for.

Could someone please link me to the best earth map (100x100 to 180x180) that allows all 24 civs and that uses the new bonuses (tobacco etc)?

I would appreciate this. I love playing earth maps and am practicing my game at monarch level.

You can find an overview here and get a map that suits your style (and playtime) http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=67319

My current favorite is Kal El's 140x140 http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1428764#post1428764
A 140 map (bit larger than normal game's 130 large map) is complex enough to feel like an earth map and not as tedious to play in the later stages than a larger 180x180 or even bigger map.
Kal El has a 180 as well, if you have enough time to play (I used to play this one).
Rhye's maps are also very good, also available in these sizes.
Rhye's maps are probably more realistical in terms of projection & terrain, Kal Els have some portions enlarged a bit (to make it more playable, like Europe).

You must have Play The World version of Civ 3. In Conquests, there are now 31 civs.

And...

Welcome to the Forum!

I also made an earth map with added ressources, but I guess it's too big for you. There's a link in my signature.

this looks like the one I have... I must say that the AI LOVES settling on all those little one-tile islands. Preventing elimination until marines are invented.
And when you have marines, enjoy the pain of bringing over a carrier with plenty of bombers, a transport with a bunch of marines and some protection for good measure... to take out 2 riflemen.
And when you've finally cleared the island of everything with a heartbeat or photosyntesis, make sure to leave one platoon of marines so no one can settle there ever again. And and airfield. Making an airfield helps sometimes.

If it is the one you have then you get a unit called "Colonial Marine" in the second age after Navigation to solve exactly that problem.

But I seem to recall you posting a picture of a game on a world map, and that was a standard size map I think, so I'm guessing you're using another map. ;)

That map must have taken an eternity to make.

Took me between two and three weeks to make the map in itself, I think.

It'll probably take approximately a geological age to play a game on that map, though. :D

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

I see that you can go cross Atlantic via the North route with galleys and triremes?
The thing I loved about the other maps was that the new and the old world were cut off. Half the fun of the game was to see how far they were on the other side of the pond.

In the Age of Discovery scenario, they slow down ocean travel by having the ocean tiles have a movement cost of 2.

Well, one option would be starting with Yoda's 256 X 256 map, and then using Quintillus Cross-Platform Editor in the Creation and Customization forum to import it into a standard Conquest .biq. or just use the standard Civ3 editor to open the .biq and then reset it to standard default rules. It depends on whether you are on Windows or Mac as to what you can use.

My map is sort of half way in between in that regard. The European civilizations can cross to America in Galleys, but because of the size of the map it happens later than it would in a normal civ game. My original intention was to have it so that they had to wait for Caravels, but to cut a long story about balancing, testing, and gameplay issues short, it had to be Galleys.

Non-european civilizations have to wait for Galleons to settle on the Americas. They however have more room to expand in their natural territory.

Russia is counted seperately btw. As the only civilization they are able to move their settlers into Siberia from the beginning of the second era, while all other civlizations have to wait untill the beginning of the third era to move into that area.
