Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

Sorry for all the delay, I guess I can play this somewhere between today and Wednesday. If somebody has an incredible urge to take it, I won't object though. The set looks a bit daunting and not especially "fun" to play. :mischief:

No you can have the fun all to yourself. Remember what BB says is always fun.

Those sets can be pretty exhausting, so take your time.

Are you playing this nocho?

Sorry, had a rather busy week and a couple of times fell asleep during the 9 o'clock news while planning to play afterwards... Seems I'm gettting old. Will give it a try again this evening or tomorrow morning. It's not my habit holding SGs up like this, sorry again for the delay.

Played 12 turns and the situation looks grim, though the state radio heralds the imminent victory on the treacherous freemasons of Persia and Ethiopia (though we're technically not at war with Ethiopia, but that hardly matters).

On the interturn we lose Ergili and Persepolis back to the Persians. What little is left of our navy is shattered and bombed and finds a heroic last resting spot on the bottom of the ocean. Hmm, not looking good.

The only thing to do is replenish our forces and that's slowly but certainly done. Accumulated our forces in Drafter's City. With no navy to speak of, any offensive measures were out of the question. By now we have something of a task-force ready for action, wouldn't want to call it an army.

In the meantime Darius went on counter-attack. Rather sillily bombarding northern cities with destroyers without follow up. More annoying were the guided missiles that destroyed good part of the improvements in the eastern peninsula. And he even captured Heroic Epic with tanks and parked a bunch of airplanes in them. However, it was recaptured immediately after with a little stack of infantry we had parked close-by. I actually built Heroic Epic, the building, in Akkad. Can't believe we never built it before (or did we and can you rebuild it when you lose it??).

Stopped when laser came in, chose advanced flight as placeholder.

On the last turn defied a UN resolution against the proliferation of nuclear arms... Without nukes our loss is certain, with them only highly likely. :D

Darius is very busy rebuilding his spaceship, he actually surpassed Zara already in progress. Unfortunately his new capital will be a lot harder to nuke away than his former was.

Our path to victory is obvious.

We will place our agents aboard those spaceships. By the time they reach Alpha Centauri, the colonists will be thoroughly indoctrinated persuaded of the truth of Big Brother's love for us all and spread his message to the stars. :assimilate:

Sorry, still not 'back' but it looks pretty hopeless anyway. I had a blast playing though before RL slammed me over the head and dragged me away though. :D

Good to hear from you, happyturtle! :)

The path to victory you propose seems the only viable way left. Maybe we can just claim Darius' success is actually our success. It always has been and always will be our success of course!

Well, at least we survived another turnset. At this point in the game, I'm calling every turnset we survive a good turnset :D

IPEX is up, if he dares to take it ;)

Will try to check the save tonight.

@Nocho, yes you can rebuild any lost National Wonder, and at this stage in the game any city with a National Wonder captured is a national wonder lost.

@Sengir I think at this stage we'll definitely survive to the bitter end, seeing as the AI is so incompetent at naval invasions.

It occurs to me that maybe we should have disabled all victory conditions. In 1984, there can be no victory. :mischief:

Anyway, I applaud you all for putting up a good fight! When the AI is humongous, Space Race really becomes a death clock, huh?

IPEX is up, you're on deck Brian, but you can take it if you want, as IPEX hasn't picked it up yet.

Give him 'til tomorrow 6P.M. (GMT). I'm not touching this tonight, as is.

Had a quick look;

Darius has 607 war Weariness and wants heroic epic as peace prize.

The Vial Ethiopian is in WHEOOHRN mode.

News Update, big Brother has been informed that the African has joined us in our war against Eurasia, we've all been at war alway's, and we alway's allied to them

*Note to self, stop dreaming*

OK I'll look at this tomorrow, I got no sleep last night and crashed all day today (after my voluntary work) so I'm in no shape to think.

Ok have the save, will play tomorrow.

I propose build nukes, subs, bships, and paratroopers.
Nuke out Darius' 4 cities in a diamond from the southern coast to his capital, capture with paras. Transport nukes to these cities and nuke the capital, hopefully after launch.
I'd be happy at this stage with a score draw.
