Sengoku-Deluxe: preview and discussion thread

Hey, knock it off with that whip - it hurts! :nono: No, my young Padawan, I haven't seriously thought about your suggestions. I want to hear a little more about them in detail. They sound interesting. What would these port wonders do?

Now I have one for you. I can't find any evidence that the Japanese use cross bows. What would you think about deleting the "stone crossbow?" It's a crappy looking unit anyway.

Go for it. The early units and techs are crap! You have to research everything form scratch as if you were in 4000 BC... i´ll PM you about the rest.

THE rest: as you asked for, you should have mining ventures, and toher stuff... every operation excludes the other, and so on... and mining facilities, though the most production-increasing ones, also give you pollution/unhappiness...

Humph. Nobody pays any attention to my beautiful ideas. I was downloadin DotAv6.32 AI v.1.90 so I thought I could pop in. Are you having health problems again? My congrats condolences if it is!

All right, where´s everybody gone?
7ronin: I got your PM.

Tak: I think it's you and me, buddy. Storm Grunt is off working on his Omega Mod. BTW I will try and honor your request tomorrow.

I'm all for the four time period thing but I think we should take them one at a time. I am tending towards the pre-placed cities concept myself.

So we have finally agreed on something. Forwaaaaaaaaaaarddd!!!!!!

I'm still here, but all I do is eagerly lurk, because I know next to nothing about Japanese history. All I've contributed to this project is "koku is cooler, so use koku." Remember that? ;)

Onward and upward!

It was more of a veto than an out voted situation, but your the admiral of this ship now so you decide where the compass points. Remember I was just trying to keep it simple and I think you guys are heading to a much bigger and accurate re-make...;)

Yeeeessss... and I propose (though the first time I proposed it you didn´t even acknowledge it :shakehead:) that we put oban or ryos instead of koku, since after all gold doesn´t spoil and doesnt´get eaten in a famine, whilst rice does do both...

If only the woods were a little nearer to where I lived, and I wouldn't pop in so often! :)

Use oban or ryos (sounds like "rice"!) instead of koku, it don't matter, any one of 'em gots good Nipponese flavah.

Prior to the Tokugawa Shogunate there was no standardized system of currency in Japan. Oban were only issued by Hideyoshi late in the sixteenth century. So historically, Oban is probably not a good choice since it doesn't apply to either all of Japan or to the entire period of the Sengoku Jidai.

However, looking at it from the flavor angle I don't have any problems with it. If on the other hand, you just want to use the Japanese word for gold, it is kin. Since Mithadan doesn't have any druthers, it's up to you Tak.

I´d still say koku after all... since there was no really standard unit, you should use the one thing that never changed and really had value because it was edible...

How´s things going?

I´ll be answering your PM in a couple of minutes.
TOTORO!

Are you calling me a Totoro? If so, I might have to send the cat bus to collect you. I received your reply and have provided instructions on how to go about the chore at hand.

You should play Blip'n'Blop: balls of steel. Download it from LOADED STUDIO. You´ll find some interesting references to the kittencat bus, as well as smurfs saying "**** you" and dorkemon terrorists. It´s kinda like the Powerpuff girls´ song "we´re gonna save the world!".

Back to theme: I´ll get those files sometime in the next few days.
By Friday/Saturday the latest.
