Sesn03 - Bad Apple Goes To War

We also have to figure out what to do about those two towns we picked up from the Hittites in the last conflict. They can't be defended come war time. Since they are our citizens with no immediate flip risk, I'm not sure I'd vote to abandon even if the Hittites were to re-take them briefly. Any opinions on that?

Let them have em. We'll go get em back, and it'll just force them to spread their troops a little thinner. I can't imagine there could be a lot of infra there to lose.

Without looking at it (I'll try to tomorrow), it sounds like we're going back at the Hittites now. Unless there is somone else that is even marginally close, short of a couple outpost towns?

It appears pind needed a skip. What would be the new order?

We have a settler that seems doomed to die in the south. I can't think of anywhere it can go with even hope of surviving, so I am going to merge it into Hattusha in the south.
Sign peace with the Celts: They give peace and Monotheism; we give peace and 13gpt.
Demand the Hittites remove their troops. Oh.. they did. Well, I go and declare anyway.
Some minor MM.

420AD
I spot a Hittite longbow and MDI. In the west they are heading for El-Ashmunein (or passing it by on the way to the unguarded Aleppo and Hattusha). In the east they seem intent on Pithom.
Kill 3 spears and 2 archers. Set some towns to make trebs. Science to 40%, Gunpowder still in 2, but no longer losing gpt. [5-0]
IBT --
Kill 5 archers and lose one [10-1]
The Dutch land a longbow near our undefended town by the Hittites. They are going to attack so I will gift the town ... to whom?

430AD
Troops move and in the west troops heal up.
Think long and hard until and decide to gift Hattusha to the Greeks. I would love the Dutch to attack anyway, putting those two civs at war with each other. At worst, we will have two Greek cities bordering us to pick off once the Hittites are done for.
IBT --
We learn Gunpowder. Chemistry is next; I assume we are heading for Mil Trad.
Hittites move a pike to take Aleppo. Dang, one more turn and I could have covered it.
The Hittite SOD moves away from Pithom... Maybe our fortified spear has them worried? Either way, it buys us time for our cats to come south.

440AD
Lose an MDI, but sweep up with our Sword.
Wonderful news, we have no saltpeter. I can see one in Hittite lands, though. And the Greek city bordering our NE has one as well.
We move a SOD against Hareid.
IBT --
Hittites want to talk.
Spear redlines longbow, but dies. Hittites take Aleppo. [11-3]

450AD
Battle for Hareid: Lose 1 MDI, kill 2 Pikes and 3 spears.
Kill archer with MDI.
IBT --
Lose an MDI I foolishly left out in the open. [17-5]

460AD
Decide it would be nice to have a few horsemen, so Thebes at 15spt is switched over.
IBT --
The Dutch seem intent to attack. They have landed another Longbow beside a defended city now. Now my gift feels foolish; they wanted to attack us no matter what.

470AD
I'd boot the Dutch if I could (for war happiness) but that option isn't given to me with just one Dutch longbow.
IBT --
The Dutch declare. Their longbow dies without so much as scratching the spear. [18-5]

480AD
Kill a pike that was on a pillage mission.
IBT --
Found out where that Hittite SOD went; they surfaced in the west.

490AD
Our eastern SOD starts its march on Emar.
Kill 1 MDI, 1 Longbow, & 3 Archers in the west.
IBT --
Longbow kills our spear defender. Hittite SOD Decides to head back east... [23-6]

500AD
Kill Longbow, archer, and spearman.
Hold up the eastern attack party one turn to wait on some cats that were catching up.
Kill our luxury and up our science to 50%. Seem to have some war happiness from The Dutch after all.

Think I'll wrap up here just to end us on an even number.
Kill ratio ends at 26:6

We have a sizeable SOD in the east ready to move next turn agains the Hittites. They are currently fortified as they were waiting for some more cats, so remember to wake them.

The Hittites keep sending spears and pikes north to pillage our iron. I have two cats and a couple units ready and waiting to pick them off one at a time when they do come.

Settler in the north, which I forgot to put on the screenshot. I was debating between settling on the ruins of the town that was destroyed up there before or 1 SW to defend it better. There is also a Settler in Pithom to use against the Hittites.

Don't know where the Hittites will push against next. The bulk of their troops were moving against Pithom at first, then pulled back at the last minute and showed up in the west just now. Now they are retreating again (after I picked a good amount of them off) presumably to the east but who knows.

The Hittites are willing to talk, but I don't think we are.

Seems like our C-in-C has gone missing for a few days. Tomoyo, can you take it next?

Sorry guys, my weekends have been very, uh, "busy" as of late. Hopefully they will settle down with the end of summer fast approaching.

Romeo - UP!
Tomoyo - On Deck

I believe that would be the order that would continue what we had. Sorry for all the confusion.

Hmm, I will try and play this today, but it might take until Wed Evening.

I need an extension till tommorrow to finish this.

Kill 2 LB's on the first IBT, Gil demands gems. Thinking about it for a long time, I give in.
Turn 1: Kill 2 hittites, move the SoD in. Our worker actions are kinda wierd, working on adjusting them to my normal style.
Turn 2: Kill 3 hittites at Emar. Take Emar, it has a rax. Unit costs are killing us, will try and fix that. Kill pillaging spear. Wines to Sumeria gets us a WM and 140 gold. 7 units from the hittite SoD die, effectively killing it off, no losses. Arabs give 2 gpt to see our WM.
IBT: Dutch are moving up a swarm of AC's. We will see them in 4-5 turns. Hittites kill a sword with a LB. Dutch greeks and Sumer just went IA.
Turn 3: Marching, hittites now have some muskets. Hmm. Stop all pony builds now.
IBT: Lose another sword, this one to a 3MC
Turn 4: Y'all think I am smoking the crack, but I declare on Scandanavia.
IBT: Retreat knight, kill LB, lose a valiant MDI to a LB.
Turn 5: Kill 3 spears and raze Odense, will settle 2 cities up there. Kill a spear and a pike and raze Tyrana, will replace in 2-3 turns. Lost a pony, killed 2 spears, razes alca hayek.
IBT: Lose a pike to a knight, lose an MDI to a LB.
Turn 6: Build Hill town. Sacrafice a pony retreat knight further. Kill LB with elite horse, thankfully no leader. The dutch give us a WM and 1 gold for peace.
IBT: Lose an archer and a spear. Oh No!!
Turn 7: Build tyrantvill on the ruins of tyranna, we now have more gems to play with. Gems are worth theology and a WM to Alexander. Gems, iron and ponies are worth education and chivalry to William. Make that deal as well.

:rotfl:  Waiting in the wings

I've been not using elites to do anything but doing MP duty. I have been upgrading them a lot as well.
I never really want Bede to take another turn.
We should take the hittites down to 1 city, then leave them there until the end of time.

haha, plan on taking bede's fun completely away?

You know, going with the idea of winning, I completely agree. But I think it would be more fun if we just played as we were a normal game and let Bede come in when these things happened.

its the  speaking. i knows it is.
all :worship: the  :D

Turn 7: Continued I lost 2 MDI but killed 2 muskets and razed Ugarit. The 2 MDI were to the same evil Redlined Musket. Lost an MDI to some LB's, kill 2 LB's though.
IBT: Not much, kill a knight on D, and retreat from a LB.
Turn 8: Build Bubastis. Disband our curragh. Research towards metallurgy, kill a zerk. repositioning our SoD.
Turn 9: 2 elites kill 2 units at hattusas, no leaders. Lost 2 MDI, but kill 2 pikes and capture Hattusas.
Turn 10: More healing and manuevering.

We are doing better.
We have a better shot, and should reposition our troops to take us some spices. In Tech, I think we should beeline to Cavalry. Then we can take on Greece, and ally in Sumeria.

Looks like things are going along nicely. I really am a bit disappointed in this landmass. That landbridge drops the level a notch or two, I think. Oh well, not much to do about it.

Remember that eliminating a rival brings the Bad Apple out to play, just an FYI.
