SGOTM 02 - VQ Red

Abt the lighthouse vs theatre, I ensured that 6 cities are producing theatres so you actually need not veto the lighthouse. (or did I count wrongly? Apparently I did not, since the last screenie shows that kyoto is already building the Globe while Santiago is still building theatre)

I suspect there was nothing wrong with your counting, but I thought that Santiago would be quicker - and indeed the theatre was whipped on turn 3! But I agree that the poor picture quality makes it seem as though it is still building a theatre; it is actually a harbour.

well, she will be gone in a couple turns. after that i think the rest of my turn set will be getting ready for the next war and more cottage & courthouses on osaka cont. we will need a force of swords and cats. i can not look at save right now, so can only verify from screen shots.

any thoughts, comments, or suggestions have about 12 hours before i can play.

edit: i think i will try to get some intel on our neighbors in the ring...

hmm. that's right... will have to look at the save. will probably have to settle for cats and bowmen. so will work on cats until feud is in. then will add longbowmen to the mix. first city should probably have an iron/copper resource for future units.

We should see what Mao has. He's smaller than us (pop-wize anyways) and might be an easier target? It looks like he is off on his own island, which would be easier to defend in case some of the other AIs get uppity.

Iron is the most desirable of course, as our Samaris would make life a WHOLE lot easier :)

i agree with iron and checking out mao. he may be best target. for me it's clean up then builder turns. mix in a little recon and maybe a little diplomacy as well.

:woohoo: Very nice codeman. So I can still post this! ;)

I don't know if someone has already got the circumnavigation bonus. But if not - Why not go for it. Immediately :whipped: a caravel in Santiago and in Cordoba. Let them start at both sides of our continent and try to get it. We already know a lot of the world. It will speed things up if we'll have to move our troops from the continent. :D

And maybe we can get DR soon. So we might have a shot at Versailles? :mischief: This would also help with our maintenance. What do you think folks?

But that's just my two :commerce:.

Er ... unless I miss something from the previous report, we still do not have Optics yet ... :crazyeye:

Yep, getting Optics was mentioned in my report (under the spoiler section) - as was connecting the whales and being unable to trade them for iron... You did read my report ... right? :p

Hey Scowler, I figure that reading posts carefully has come out of fashion. People simply don't do it anymore - it's just way easier to ask if you want to know something in particular. :mischief:

As for reading your report: I did. :D But I didn't read the spoiler because the announced "unexpected visitor" was an expected visitor. :crazyeye: So I closed the spoiler as soon as I saw Kublai's face and I didn't read further down. My fault, obviously .

But so much for reading posts carefully. :old: ... Unless I didn't get the subtle and this debate anticipating humour in labeling Kublai as "unexpected" ... :gripe: :p :) ;).

But talking seriously: Maybe we should exercise more care when using spoilers? :hmm:
Spoiler :
:scan: Note to self: Be more careful when using spoilers! :scan:
Regards, .

Hey y'all, just checking in. I really haven't had anything to add except I'm worried about the lack of iron (even for whale, stone, crab, clam? :crazyeye: how much gpt would he want?) We're going to have a hard time getting a toehold with just cats & lb's. Doable, but tough. How far away are muskets?

In any case, I have something to add here :) Here's how I like to use my spoilers: :mischief:

Spoiler look here to learn the best way to use spoilers :
always use the spoiler=blah tag to let people know, before they open the spoiler, if they're invited! :D

And @Codeman, better to play sober and late than drunk and on time! For a SGOTM, that is ;)

Spoiler replying to armstrong's suggestion on how to use spoilers :
:thanx: I will keep that in mind. Pretty smart! ;)

Kind regards, .
