I don't see any problem with forging ahead... most input has been the same... continue buildup, especially cats once construction is in.
 
I was going to suggest dot to alternate for Krockel ... ;) Dot, suggest you PM AlanH.

armstrong ... agree, its whether you like suiciding cats or not. So you can go (A) heavy on cats for suiciding, and the swords are just for cleanup, axes for protecting the stack, or (B) moderate on cats for defense bombardment, swords does the hardwork, axes for protection.

I hate losing uits, so I usually go the (B) route. But after considering the situation, I am now more inclined to agree with the (A) route. Our advantage against Isabella is we have these feline stone throwers, might as well fully leverage such an advantage.

Is this really a question? As far as I'm concerned you're part of the team, and if that means having an "uneven" number of players - active or otherwise - so be it!

Got it! I'll take a look at the save in a few, and play in about 12 hours. I'm looking to get this war started sooner rather than later... :)

I think AlanH's reply regarding even and odd numbers was if there'd be some strife between the VQ teams with mismatched rosters... unless I misread it. 7 is a heavenly number! YHWH/RNG 2.0 won't fail us (once we capture his shrine, that is... ;))
 
Damn, we need to do something about Izzy, and soon. She's going to gobble up that whole continent, and before you know it she's going to be too advanced to take her out!

I think a couple more cats, and we need to sound the trumpets!
 
OUCH! :eek: Distance costs are up to -12 gpt in Osaka? That's ridiculous. I didn't know they scaled with pop size or city number... I must say, I dislike games where the rules aren't documented...

We're also paying 5 gpt for our fogbusters... I bet slinky lizzy can take some of those costs off our hands. But, even if we pull the troops from the frontlines, I don't see how (on Epic) I can declare this turn with only one cat. At best, I could build up 4 or so to set . up. So I guess I just build cats, then and whip gardens? Or do y'all think otherwise? I imagine we'll be up against LB's pretty soon, so I don't see any other window to hit Madrid, maybe Barc, though... :sad:

Yep, maintenance scale with pop size, that's why earlier I suggested turning on avoid growth for city reaching happiness limit ... until one turn before we are ready to do a 2-pop whip. Some thing like that :mischief:

I wonder how is Edo doing ... with the pasture in, its hammer yield should be increased, hopefully that allow a whip of the aqueduct (overflow into hanging garderns), and quickly connect up the northern clams for whip of the garden.

There should also be a cultural pop at Tokyo. Wonder if there is more lands up north ...

I know the city upkeep & stuff grew, but I had no idea that distance costs scaled. That's not good at all. We should NOT have gone the currency route, should have more or less beelined for CoL. We're in a pickle here...

Nope. But Edo still has a border pop when it's Library comes in.

To everyone:

I've played two turns. I was getting ready to declare on Isabella in a few, but I'm getting worried. Here's the deal -

We're currently paying 13gpt cost in Osaka. I estimate any new cities are going to cost around 10 to 15 (when they grow.) We're making 26 gpt right now at 100% gold, though we could grab a few more to prevent disbanding if we had to by switching off scientists in the island cities (though that would delay research.)

Realistically, we can't afford to capture more than one city until we get CoL, nor can we move the palace before we have courthouses whipped in the island cities. However, I could take Barcelona during my turn pretty easily (it only had 2 archers last turn) right now with it's shrine with the 3 swords and 3 cats currently available. I don't think Judaism has spread in more than 4 cities at most, however, so it would slow down our teching to CoL pretty substantially.

Just sitting on our military & fogbusters will cost us money, too, though. I don't know - what do you all think? Declare war this turnset and take Barcelona, then wait for CoL? Maybe raze some of izzy's cities just to slow her down? Or just focus on building up a stronger force that can go the distance to Madrid, and wait for CoL to come in?
 
Hey armstrong,

I assume that you can go on with playing and post the save as soon as all your turns are done. This assumption is based on the fact that you are up and that you are allowed to post interim saves. Even though they shouldn't become kind of a standard. But to verify this assumption just try and PM AlanH. :goodjob:
