Well it's past the 24 hours. Perhaps give him another couple of hours to post that he's 'got it' otherwise Htadus should take it IMO.

I just down loaded the save and can play immidiately. Once I look at the save I will post my thoughts.

It's not entirely surprising, although a disappointment. They've been stuck at that date for a while despite lots of discussion. Equally the date ties in with when we might have hoped to finish if Cyrus & Hatty weren't being such a pain.
 
I just looked at the save and see that we have tanks en route to take out the last Arabian City and Issy is wasting good number of voting population. She may be in good terms with Vickey. But how good:evil: :ar15: ?

It look like just continue doing what we are doing at the moment. We wont have enough units to take Sal for almost 8 turns. So if no one has any comments, I would like to keep this baby rolling and may be gifting the select few.

We have some troops healing in Medina. Can't remember off the top of my head whether they are enough to take Mecca without waiting for reinforcements. The troops in transports were more in preparation for the likely attack on Kublai.

Btw we should try and get some research done. Maybe not @ 100% but we should be able to afford at least 50% and still have enough dosh for cash rushing.

Old Saria has a defense of 2 inf, 2 SAM, Arti and a Cav. Karakorum has 4 inf, arti and a SAM. Rushed bunch of units.

Sorry I got carried away with the font. This is one of 2 victories I have in my hall of fame and one of 3 games I completed.

20/20: I am guessing the team that won sooner did it by going the domination route from get go. This was an eye opener for many of the Civ4 secrets. I did not think I would be able to play this turn set the way my computer was acting up and my girl was born two days ago. But I am thrilled that I got to see to the end. Thank you for all for your bits of wisdom. Oh btw I did figure out why 100% and 0% science is a good idea when there are multipliers involve.:)

This post saved me having to hunt all the other threads. :) I think Da Vinci is overlooking the fact that there have been so many games that have stalled that it's difficult to judge whether a team has finished or not.

Out of interest, do you have the voting figures for the winning UN vote. I'd be curious to see what factor finally pushed us over the edge. Was it purely growth in our population from conquering or did someone new vote for us?

I agree btw with Htadus about the early domination thing. Not yet looked at the other team threads, but I'm guessing from Peanut's score graph that they went on the warpath almost from the start. I guess with hindsight we should've carried on conquering instead of having our extended peace after we'd cut Mao down to size but - hey, you live and learn. With fewer starting civs I'm sure it would've been a lot easier to win a diplo game mostly by genuine diplomacy but as it turned out there were just too many civs on our map to do that. It was a fun game anyway! I thought we worked really well as a team - lots of discussions, everyone contributing opinions, and then playing turnsets roughly according to the consensus.

@Thrallia: Thanks, yeah I'll be sorry not to be there for the next SGOTM [1]. Maybe I'll check in and lurk unseen in your team thread occasionally ;) At least if I'm not playing I'll have the fun of looking at your thread then looking at other teams' threads and saying to myself 'ha! team X is doing that wrong :lol:'

[1] But not as sorry as I probably would be if I did the next SGOTM and then left lots of other things in my life undone :)
 
I've only skimmed some of the threads. However it appears that some of the teams built the UN, gifted the city to the Civ they wanted as opposition and kept all their good buddies to vote for them. :eek:

I knew that the Civ that built the UN was automatically included but I didn't realise that the Civ that owned the UN was automatically included. If it does indeed work like that then we could have done that with Toku and probably knocked ~150 years off our eventual end date. :cry:

Note: I haven't read the threads in detail so I may have the mechanics of this ploy wrong.
