SGOTM 04 - Xteam

Kreep plugging, might as well record the Time Victory :)

As for the next game, I have a few ideas gleaned from a recent AW SG as the Mongols. It was Prince but we didn't have the barbarian partner. In any case I think it closed out with a Conquest victory in the late 1100 AD. There were some variant restrictions that slowed things down a little.

Here is the thread if you want some light reading

OK. I'll get to it tomorrow night after work. Plans tonight.

1950ad (0) Wake transports and start bombing Lahore with fighters to start the decimation of Indian troops and then to make a push to Madras.

1951ad (1) Trim some of the more dangerous troops by Lahore and land a force to make a run to Madras. Used GE on Wallstreet

1952ad (2) Lost all the troops in the counter offensive, but it did eat up a log of Ghandi's troops. :mischief:

1953ad (3) NOt much

1954ad (4) Not much

1955ad (5) Turfan captured. Picked off troops in Lahore from transports until a single swordsman is left. No troops losses.

1956ad (6) Not much

1957ad (7) Again picked off troops in lahore from transports until a single swordsman is left. We did lose one mech inf. Landed troops to try for Madras again.

1958ad (8) We survived the 3 troop counter offensive

1959ad (9) Captured Madras :D Only left the capturing Modern armor in it as I don't want to keep it....Just wanted to move Apollo.

1960ad (10) We lost Madras....Now time to hunt for Apollo again. Troops heading towards Calcutta and Karachi......They still have large garrisons of obsolete troops. Other troops I've left parked next to cities to kill all but one defender as they're brought in from other cities. I've got a group of mech inf heading towards Dehli, but Dehli's troops have been replenishing Lahore, I believe as Dehli's garrison is really down now. Maybe they need to head towards Karachi? Transports with 2 battleship escort is on auto to Hadrumentum to pick up more troops, but there's not a full complement for them. There is a carrier there with jet fighters that's waiting for escort back to India's lands.

Good show. Are you taking into consideration that G will get free support for a large number of his units, so we won't benefit his research by eliminating more than 60% of them I would guess?

I was just killin things that moved.

:goodjob: Nice job RRAU!!

Like ducks in a shooting gallery? :mischief:

Roster:
Frederiksberg - UP
Leif - On Deck
Cactus Pete
Sanabas - ?
Gator
- checked in and recovering!
Bede
RRAU
- Just played!!

Got to go and have a look! :D

EDIT - Map looks much more orderly!
Can't tell what is happening in G's cities as far as War Weariness. Looks like we need to find where Apollo is now, if anywhere?
Since Izzie is a hollow shell, should we gift her all the techs we know and hope, pray and chant to the RNG Gods that, perhaps, with such a tech lead on G that she will gift something, anything, to G? :hmm:
Once we determine where Apollo is being built, and it is acceptable, perhaps we should back off? Seems as though rrau gave G quite a drubbing... :D

The AI does act on the basis of visible threats. When you back off in the early game, the AI will send out its settlers and workers. Until you do, they just stay holed up in the cities. Let's back well off (except for spies, of course).

Since we are in position to thwart anyone's spaceship, why not gift techs? If a civ feels comfortably ahead, maybe they'll be generous with G.

Mainly though, I think we should proceed with dispatch and move on to the next game.

I agree. There isn't much more we going to achieve with this one. Getting to the end will be a relief! :)

I'm going on 3½ weeks vacation from the 5th of july and I'm quite busy at work to get some things done before I leave so I would really appreciate if I could be skipped.

I have signed up for the SGOTM5 and I expect that my old team mate, Mad Professor, from Memphis Blues will also be joining XTeam as there seems to be no chance of reviving Memphis Blues (have already discussed this with Leif).

I will be back from my holidays on the 26th of july so don't put me too high on the rooster. I'm going to Vegas for a few days and after that I'll be driving for 1½ week in the area of the Great Lakes starting in Chicago. Does any of you US guys know where to go in that area if you are looking for scenic views and good food?

leif . . .

I'm certainly available if needed, but if you want to finish this thing up, please go ahead. Be nice to get a few lines of feedback on what G did and did not do.

Glad to know we're on for the next game. Hope Gator can join us.

Thanks CP. I'll play it for as long as I can and see how close I can get to finishing. I think there are still 90 turns to play.

Yes, it was nice to see that most wants to remain together. I think that we will do much better as we learn about each other and press on together.

Done, hope you have a great time. [party] If you find yourself lost near Boston, let me know and I'll come and rescue you!!

We could use a Mad Professor around here. Does he play the organ? ;)

You're supposed to go to Vegas last to make sure you have enough $ left to get home!

Never lived in Chicago but I used to get up there from time to time when I was in the US Army, but that was 20 years ago. There are a lot of really scenic places along the Great lakes, into Michigan and over into Canada. If you like cheese, head up the Wisconsin side! :mischief:

Milwaukee for beer and bratwurst, then west to the Wisconsin Dells for views and amusements, then north to Lake Superior for really cold water and wilderness.

I've got it and am starting up.

Looking at the Power Curve, rrau beat G up pretty well. So I may take out a few units but intend to back off, find Apollo and monitor the situation while supplying Izzie with all our techs. See if her +7 with G will net him any techs?

Objective is to complete this game, somehow???? ;)

Update from the front on Turn 579 - 1969AD
Found Apollo! G is building it in Delhi and it will complete in 21 turns, 1990 AD!
He has captured Samarqand and Thanae and is following the Worker trail towards Old Sarai.
In the cities I have been able to Spy in so far, he has War Weariness pretty much under control. If he can come up with techs, it might get a little bit interesting? :D
Thus far, Izzie has been absolutely no help.
Nothing new there...

For the record - I'm quite happy to join XTeam for SGOTM5 since Fredericksberg has extended that invitation. It certianly looks like there will be no Memphis Blues team.

I'll even lurk here for the next couple of weeks to see what I might be signing up for... ;)

I used to be fairly good on the piano leif, but the fingers are a wee bit rusty these days. I don't practice anywhere near enough - well only on the wrong kinds of keyboards! I've played an organ a few times, but I don't think I live up to the image you're suggesting

Well, you do have a bit of time to practice? :p

All we're really looking for is another angle on pleasing the RNG Gods!!

Welcome to the X's! Should you decide to accept the mission that is? :D

Lol. It does seem that X-Team does get mission impossibles from the RNG gods.
