SGOTM 04 - Xteam

Condolences on your victory
We did better than we did with C-III!!

If you run this one a third time in BtS, we might get Gandhi to launch.
Third time's a charm? :crazyeye:

Good effort, leif.

I'd certainly be curious to know if the critical strategy was just to let G have cities early or if the two successful teams did something we didn't even contemplate (or even know was possible).

As our team has completed the game and submitted, you are now free to visit any of the other team's threads. I haven't had the time to read them in detail yet, but it appears that those who got G to launch did allow G to conquer their own continent early.

I really need to read more before I can say this was the primary reason. So I'm off to read some more. :)

We struggled with Gandhi taking over our cities because he just insisted on pillaging them back to the stone age before taking them over. We got caught in no-man's land between sort-of letting him take over some cities, and sort of trying to invade the other AI, but really not successfully doing either, because all it took was one AI to get strong and powerful and launch first. Our Gandhi was hopeless and just insisted on continually building more and more armies.

Yes, our Gandhi did much of the same. In addition, his workers would farm over towns and gem sites. It would seem there was a time period of chaos for the AI where it does really dumb things. However, in the last 100 turns, I watched Gandhi get his stuff together and begin to develop his empire in a systematic manner; building Markets, Banks, Libraries and Universities. He was also able to get his War Weariness in check.

It seems to have happened once we removed our Army to the other continent or off the shore in Transports. Perhaps this is why those who were able to get him to take territory early faired better? :crazyeye:

Need to read some more... :mischief:

The ceding of territory to Gandhi was clearly the key. And establishing the new homeland in Hannibal's lands with galleys rather than waiting for galleons.

Just finished reading CRC's thread. All I can say is that I am in awe!!
