SGOTM 05 - Trash Team

Go Trash!

Not too shabby. If I'd had to play this game alone, I would probably have given up around 5 AD, but "all losses are caused by insufficient stubbornness."

really?
I found it was rather well engaged, with india dying early.
We could have done a lot better obviously, but I'm rather glad we went through this way.

Good job all!

Happy to see we won this one. It was looking a bit worrying after we landed on the continent and we were facing superior units.

Well done Cabert, and a great team effort Stuge, Remco, and Patagonia (and LoC's one turnset!). :D

I'm sorry Pigswill had computer troubles and Patagonia had to withdraw for a while - but pleased that both had been lurking nonetheless.

Not exactly the 'quick Keshik slam dunk' that we first envisaged, but with the handicap of no early trading and the hold up of having to build fleets in order to invade plus engineering Old Sarai's border pop to make it even possible - not too bad! I'm also strangely pleased that the Barbarians made a contribution to our win throughout - I thought that they'd get wiped out by 1AD if not before.

(Edit: Looked at a few other teams' threads ... seems that we're destined to get another lowish-middling position in the rankings, but that's OK :)).

What we did right :
- early BW + sailing was a good move
- changing goal when we saw conquest was out of reach

What we did not so right :
- We were shy on the early cities, making conquest basically impossible
- we were shy on the continent conquest. We probably should have gone for the "continent" before going for Saladin.

Well, a win is a win, and I was not really expecting us to win some laurels here. It's been a very different and fun game, with a good and pleasant team :goodjob:.
Now I can install 3.13 for good, I think :).

Final Lurk on this Thread

Well played chaps :goodjob: :goodjob: :D .

Hope the next game doesn't involve such a complex installation.

I agree with your analysis, cabert.

The games sure are a fun ride. Too bad we didnt get closer to contending for the prizes, but like Cam says, that's OK.

What matters is the ride, and I'm glad I got aboard this one. "An interesting loss is better than a boring victory."

In fact, we did a lot better than in the previous SGotM, and also a bit better than in the one before. This time we actually had a plan!
Too bad the plan wasn't foolproof, and we finally had to change it.
But we played a few test games, we understood the game mechanics involved in the variant, we built a master plan...
I'd say we're progressing.
Everyone up for another "trash team" SG?

Absolutely. Can't wait for the next SGOTM to start.

it was fun to watch silently from the sidelines too! i love to see the "have fun, learn about the game, don't feel pressure and frustration" focus. altho quite frankly i expect nothing less knowing you guys ;). grats on the win :goodjob:

not that my vote as a lurker is worth a bean, but:

:yup: :please: i'm up for watching another!

1800 : we're at 58.65% land.

1802 : We're at 89.93% land.

1804: We're at 60.78% land.

:crazyeye: i sense a typo in 1802 *giggle*

Probably, yes.
Don't you want to be our diplo consellor in the next game?

Don't you want to be our diplo consellor in the next game?

but then i'd have to show self-restraint and not read other threads! that might be even harder than the staying silent business while i'm a free-roaming lurker ! but we'll see what the next game is. if it's quirky enough that i think i'd help and not hinder, i just might take you up on that.

You mean staying alive, instead of trying to win.... On Deity....

Would be a challenge for sure. Better take a protective civ.
