Good work guys. Finally I'm able to look at the save and get on track..
First of all, I'm not sure if the three gorges dam is worth it, Asoka seems to be building hydro plants in all of his cities..
We don't have a factory yet in Malabar (and no ironworks)! Also West Point is available to build. Maybe we should obtain some more $$ to build those asap.
Regarding war.. Fred seems to be a logical next target. And after that kublai, I'd say. But maybe after a little preparation first. Building some more navy for attacking Liz and keeping Sally out seems also a good idea at some point.. Also we should be wary of Sally coming to the Coast of India with troops. Maybe have some reinforcements there?
I think that Fred and Kublai are pretty easy pickings. We'll lose a few units against Fred (he has a stack of artillery) but it will be over pretty quickly. Liz, on the other hand, will require some military build-up.
We sue for peace as soon as Sally will talk to us - that will take care of that issue.

Agree with Chmoosi on 3GD, WE should be just happy with a hydro plant.
(IF we build 3GD, will it works for Asoka in PA ?... if yes, then remember that Asoka has built several Wonders including the Kremlin so we could rush (buy) cheaper building/units if we have the correct Civics).
War with Fred : with his nasty stack of Artillery, he could easily capture one of the border City. Do we really want war against Fred (and Lisa while we are at it).
Couldn't just finishing all the backward (southern) AIs be enough to provide the required land/ressources to finish a SS.
Ok who's next? Sooooo I assume? We have to keep a good pace up otherwise we won't make it in time... I won't be able to play until sunday btw so after sooooo the next person around would be Jabah. Swiss Pauli and Compromise haven't been around for a while I guess.. I can take the turn when I get back.

Take a look at the game to determine if we have the resources to win by Space. We have aluminium but do we have coal? If we can get coal by taking out Mongolia, I think we can skip Fred and Liz and push onto the SShip. If we need coal, then 'tank up' and kill Fred.

I am going out for drinks tonight, so it is probably a bad idea to play after, and I have a train at 6h45 friday morning meaning that tomorrow night is also quite not possible.
I am also in favor to skip Fred and Liz if we can and go after [Rome as it is on the way and backward ?] and Mongolia (there was coal there afair). We don't really want Asoka to divert his production to too many units and tank his economy rebuilding a too big empire too fast.
Mongolia doesn't have coal. Fred has two and will trade for our Deer. We are at '-7' on health so we need to re-hook up our seafood. I am still leaning towards a quick, clinical strike against Germany (currently only 2 cities) as it will give us coal and solidify India (ie remove cultural pressure on his new cities). One other thing to consider is that the coal locations are 3 or more tiles away from every city so it would be a few border pops before we actually controlled it.
I may be able to play on Saturday if no one else has picked it up before then. We may not have to take out Elizabeth but it may be important to have a navy and some transports to take out a few Russian cities (not looking at save, obv).
great news sooooo - Sorry I missed your 'I'm away' comment. We have 2 battleships, 1 destroyer and 1 transport. Mainly for seafood protection at the moment. We are missing several workboats so our health is at '-7' (stagnate) IIRC.
Perhaps to speed it up a little, ruff can keep playing now, then sooooo can take it this weekend and I'll take it after that. I will be away this weekend (and next)
I might be able to play another set tonight or Friday night. There are arguments for taking out Fred (access to coal after border pops, release pressure on India's new cities). This would need a pretty stack of tanks to bust through his Berlin defenses. England is 1 (or 2) steps too far for us and is probably a waste of time.
Here is the current situation:
We are 8 turns from Rocketry.
We don't have a factory (4 turns) or hydro (3 est). Both of these builds will increase our unhealthness (we are currently -7 due to the loss of fish and crabs).
We can build (waste 2 turns) work boats to replace these resources or we can trade for them (trading silver and uranium to the AIs for fish and crabs).
We can also trade dear to Fred for coal - more unhealthy but more production (railroads on our mines)
We have Aluminium tile (currently a farm) and Asoka has given us some

To take out Fred, we would need to build a bunch of tanks, enough units to survive a round or two of artillery attacks. The way I see it, we don't have the time to do this. It will take us 8 turns to bring our city to higher level production (factory, power) and longer if we want to add the iron works. We'll also need to improve our health.
So, here is the plan:
Swap to factory, hydro
trade for health
stop war with Saladin ASAP
trade for coal from Fred (prefer to spend $ instead of deer)
railroad mines, lumbermills
mine aluminium if we can afford the health
swap away from Rocketry when it is 1 turn to go, so that we can start the Apollo Program instead of Asoka
stop once we have started the Apollo Program
In hindsight, we should have razed New York. It is taking 2 of our tiles because we have a PA with India - there is nothing we can do to get them back (as far as I know). It isn't really adding much to Asoka's production.
IHT (Turn 245): I trade for coal (for 7gpt, from Frederick), and clams (for silver, from Cyrus). I build an aluminium mine. I don't want to give silver to catherine so don't trade for her fish. Oh, and I close borders with Catherine - giving trade routes to the tech and land leader should never occur. Revolt to Organised Religion + Representation. MF to workboat.
T246: Lots of borders expand and Asoka's new gains are not so great. Will need to kill Mongols asap. Begin the railroading.
T247: MF completes WB, starts factory.
T248: Not good, Germans capture beshbalik and Cyrus builds an SS casing. Still cannot decalare on Mongols and Fred won't take anything to stop war with them.
T249: Saladin and Cyrus finish SS casings.
T250: Saladin and Lizzy finish SS casings. I'll stop the casings updates now as they are coming in every turn. Factory completes, begin hydro plant. Madrid suffers German revolt. Decide to get some troops in there.
T251: Hydro plant finished, begin Ironworks. 1 turn to rocketry so I change research to Radio. Bad news: Saladin will talk but won't allow peace under any circumstances!
T252: Oh, Rocketry still not in. Still 1 turn. Grr, a cheecky Arab submarine destroys our fishing net on the, err, fish. I sink it with a battleship. I bribe Mansa to declare on Saladin for two backwards techs. First his sub is sunk, now he's got frigates coming his way - Maybe the cheeky Arab will begin to see reason soon Great - Cuzco flips to Germany.
T253: Horay - Asoka gives us a cow! Never before have I been as greatful for a cow. Begin Apollo program, tell the Indian to research Radio.
T254: Horay - We now sign peace with Saladin for 80 gold. Declare on Kublai Khan! Build a workboat.
T255: But it is all in vain as Fred gets the last mongol city. Was a mistake to ever sign peace with Kublai in hindsight.
Dramatic news as Catherine declares on Mansa (what have I set him up for???) and captures a city on the first turn. At least she is now building tanks and not space parts.
Move most of the troops back home but leave some in Indian cities because they may prevent flips.
T256: Catherine finishes Eiffel Tower. Instead of the work boats Asoka needs he is building ... a caravel?? Oh great - Madrid is now German. Ze troops - zhey do nothing. Not a lot we can do - we were not in a position to declare on Germany unfortunately. I spot a current deal - we are giving crabs to Cyrus for dyes. I cancel this and give them for free to Asoka. We interrupt apollo program to finish ironworks methinks.
T257: Catherine finishes three gorges. Starve for a turn to finish ironworks this turn.
T258: Back to Apollo Program.
T259: Ha, I love it: Monty now declares on Mansa.
T260: Kumbi Saleh captured by Russians. Asoka finally does something useful and starts Ironworks rather than endless missionaries. The bad news: he does it in Delhi, the city with no hills and one lumbermill.
15 turns and a round numbered date seems a natural place to stop.
Coincidentally it is 158 turns until we could win by culture. That's not that long after someone wins by space.
