SGOTM 08 - Chokonuts

Just another thought for the next player. I believe Augustus was voted in the AP during my turnset. I don't know what religion the AP is but it could become a problem if resolutions start coming out to end the war with Ghandi.

Ok Oz. I am actually learning something new in this game. I am obssesed with getting rid of those unhappy faces. I think it is a hangover from civ three with all its irritating rioting. Anyhow that's probably why I didn't think thru my civics switch carefully enough.

I guess we have no choice but to defy otherwise Ghandi's culture will be a real PITA plus redeclaring messes diplo plus Ghandi is too advanced to give another 10 turns to.

The lack of seige at the front is a problem but its rifles vs longbows so we can afford some risks.

We take Vijay first turn losing one rifle in the process. We gain Christian shrine, sistine chapel, Spiral Minaret and Temple of Artemis. :goodjob:

Not sure about Military Tradition as a tech. We should be heading for the corporations or Electricity/Radio wonders or Bilogy but as we're 3 turns from finishing leave it.

We have 3 great prophets but there are only two shrines left in the world, so I use one fior a military pump golden age.

I move on Agra.

Military Tradition is in and I trade for Physics and Corporation and move onto Biology.

Agra is razed for the loss of 3 rifles, all at good odds

Varanasi razed for the loss of a rifle at 97%:mad:

I'm setting up Yasod... as our National Park city.

Biology comes in last turn and is replaced by Medicine (Sids Sushi). Electricty might be another decent choice so we can change it. I traded for Military Science with Joao as well so we may get some trade value from it.

Our navy is getting pounded by Gandhi's frigates (I think I lost every battle but 1 or 2). We need more.

The troops are outside Bangalore (raze) and Bombay (keep). We should be able to take Bombay next turn. Just use the trebs and cats to bombard and the cannon to attack and then the rifles to clean up.

We have 7 cavalry, 6 cannons and a grennie waiting for the seas to clear.

After Bombay we have Papaliputra to clear but I think that is it for Gandhi. We can get peace after that if we want. He has Electricity so hopefully will give it up.

We have 125 wonder points currently. Bombay gives us another 5, Papaliputra the same. Globe and Ironworks are near completion (another 10) and we can build National Park (queued in Yasod). Sids Sushi another 5 again.

Who do we want to hit on next? Rome seems the best target.

It would be nice if everyone (that can) would load up the save and give their thoughts as to the direction of the game. How far should we take it.

For me....

Take Bombay and Papali, raze Bangalore and get peace with Gandhi.

Amass troops to go after Augustus, razing non-wonder cities and capturing the wonder ones (Antium has 4 and Arretium is a holy city).

Research Medecine for Sids, then Electricity then Radio (3 wonders), Industrialism (might have to trade for Steam Power and research Assembly Line).

Lets face it, we're not going to win this SGOTM (we'll win the game of course) so I'd like to see if we can get every wonder in the game no matter how long it takes us :mischief:

BTW, think there will be a late Feb cut-off for this so we better get moving a bit quicker.

I think this is the current playing roster. Let us know if you can jump back in McArine.

Good report oz. I am away from home till later tonight will look at save then.
Ghandi still getting rng luck with those damn frigates
I went MT because we were at war and i usually stick to war techs when that is happening plus I find it hard to trade for and pretty good to trade with.
I see why going electricity or something would have advanced our goals in hindsight.
Geting Sids sounds like a good goal.

edit: I would have thought Jao would have been more help on the sea by now or i guess he doesn't have chem yet.
Also like goal of getting every single wonder.

Good stuff Oz. I will take a look at the save tonight when I get home.

I will then be able to play tomorrow night after hearing from the rest of the team.

Good luck cubbies.
edit:
Also is the plan to get rid of Ghandi completely?
Seems like the way to go to get a strong foothold without his annoying culture on that land mass.
Jao should mop up remaining cities.
Or is the danger he vassalizes to someone?

10 more turns in the books:

- Took Bombay with no losses :)
- Razed Bangalore
- Took Pataliputra only losing 1 cannon and 1 cat
- Traded Biology to Pericles for Steam Power
- Traded Spices to Pericles for 12 gpt
- Finished Medicine and started Electricity
- Great Spy was born...what should we do with him?
- Didn't found Sid's yet because I wasn't sure what city to put it in... Plus, we need to adopt Free Market first and thought we should consider if we need to make any other civic changes
- Made peace with Gandhi because he got riflemen...not good. We only managed to get Divine Right and a World Map for peace

We have a large number of troops already in Gandhi's old territory and have a number in galleons ready to ship over. I guess our next move is to go after Rome?

Sid's Sushi should go in our Wall Street City (I started a few banks towards this). Confused Holy City would be the best (any holy city for that matter).

I think Rome would be best next (as Antium has lots of juicy wonders). We have tonnes of cannons, rifles and cavalry. Let's get them over there and attack quickly, while we work towards tanks.

Remember raze all non-wonder-holy cities.

Delhi is also a holy city and is currently providing us with the most gold so I held off on Sid because we might want to put it there instead of in the Confused Holy City.

I imagine we can use the Great Spy to help kick off a golden age?

cubbies a golden age here sounds like a good idea. Could give us a real boost into the wonder techs.
In my offline games i have trouble with captured cities going back into revolt.
If that is a possibility here we shouldn't make Delhi the wall street city.
