SGOTM 09 - Fifth Element

TS played. save.

Built everythin BLubz said to do.
Got irrigation to wheat, built a couple maybe 3 destroyers, finished plastic, rocketry, radio and started fission.
The WB got killed by a barb just before it got to the oil so I built a new one in GL and built the platform.
Popped a GM in Pindus and founded Sushi in LP.
Started Apollo in LP
Spread Mining to all the cities Mesix suggested.
Start to build a national railroad to speed troop movement if needed.
Built PT in cities that needed health
Built IP in cities that could use a free engineer and could afford heath issues
Sold paper to Shaka for 200 gold
Traded hits to Stalin for 8 GPT and HC for 3GPT. All the money they had basically.

Otherwise fairly uneventful. If I completely ruined the whole game then it was the guy who went before me's fault so yell at him.

Also won the AP election by a landslide.

Seems well done, pity for the WB.

I hope you remembered to change specialists in Pindus to scientists.

Some more destroyer and no one can seriuosly threat us.
One in Greenland, one E of Atlantis to scout, one near Braga.

Then more will cover the atlantic coast. No need for them in Pacific, max one.

Some quick observations

UT, for Heaven's sake, change the Merchants in Pindus to Scientists before Blubmuz notices! :crazyeye:

Opporto - currently building Wealth but doesn't have any of the wealth buildings.
Build - Market, Grocer, Bank
OR
Library, University, Observatory, Lab
Santarem - Same
Coimbra - almost the same, has some of these.
Vancouver - Customs House
Opis - Bank

Some other cities could use a Customs House.

At our current research pace, we have ~16T to go

I left the merchants in pindus to help the economy but it has only been 1 turn since the GM popped so the next TS can change it. In the cities that are building wealth or research without the full compliment of buildings, the reasoning was that they have low production so there would take more time to build the infrastructure than would make them worth while for the 25 turns left in the game. Again the next TS can change that too.

And to repeat, any mistakes in the game aren't my fault. Just cause I hate to take the blame so I volunteer the previous TS to take all the blame. :)

I supposed he forgot the merchants. Better i was sure. Now the gene is polluted, we have only to pray. A GM is totally useless at this stage.

I'd like to have some news by Simon, it's some day he doesn't post.

We're can take it easy, but 2 more TSs before next weekend are needed.
In case we can swap.

Have you started the Apollo? Nippur has to finish the 3GD, so i think it better go in Blubz. If we spread Sushi there we can build some workshop to make it a powerhouse. We can also convert a couple of FP into lumbermills and railroad them.

Custom houses are totally useless, same Industrial parks.

In my TS i stacked the GSpy and the GArt for next GAge. We can launch it when we'll be to 1 turn to complete Fusion, so the last SS parts will be built in GAge.
Nippur will build the Genetics and the Satellites parts. Blubz and Babylon the engines.

I found a great spy running in one city put him to work on a square.
The Merchants were running for only one extra turn.

I stated that Apollo was started in LP. I spread Mining to all the big production cities and built one sushi dude then started apollo. Will be done in 6 I believe. Nippur should be mostly done with 3 gorges. I built IP in cities that could benefit from a free engineer.

A GM isn't worthless. Send him on a trade mission which should bring in ~1000+ gold.

Custom Houses raise Trade route money by 100%. In one city I looked at, Trade routes were 18 Gold(Commerce?). More money means keeping up a fast research pace. This beats just building wealth at a small rate. Most of the builds I suggested were 3 to 4 turns to complete. I would say any builds that complete after the next 6 to 8 turns shouldn't be started.

The rest of the TS looks fine.

Industrial parks are also worthwhile in the cities that will build SS components. Once we tech enough, we will want to run max engineers in those cities for the extra :hammers: towards SS production. An industrial park gives us one free engineer and allows us to run more.

Economy buildings (Bank, Market, etc.) only modify :gold: from :commerce: and specialists. When you build :gold: it is NOT modified by these buildings. In cities that hve low commerce and no specialists (like Coimbra, Opporto, etc.) it is better to have them build wealth or research at this point in the game. We will never get a return on investment from economic or research buildings since they do not have enough :commerce: or :food: for specialists to make a difference.

I would also recommend adding another Sushi exec in LP ahead of Apollo. UT already build one Sushi exec and airlifted him to Pindus. We can spread Sushi faster if we have two cities to build execs to spread to further cities. We should try to have both corps in our top 7-8 cities to help with SS component production.

Pindus should be running scientists now (after GM popped). Pindus has all of the necessary research buildings to get +110% from :science:. Once we turn off the merchants in Pindus we will need to run merchants in other cities to compensate. I would recommend having Evora and Lisbon be economic cities. They never built the banks that I had queued up at the end of my TS. I wonder who changed the build queue in those two cities. We should airlift a Sishi exec to one of these cities and then build another exec to spread to the other. After some growth, both cities should be able to run a lot of merchants. We should also start building wealth in several of the former Portugese cities to keep our economy afloat.

I guess I'll have to take the time to read a guide on the difference between Gold and Commerce and what affects what.

Good luck finding that!

Simon hasn't posted in almost 7 full days. How long are we gonna wait on him?

Sorry I didn't post !

I'll post a PPP tonight, and play tomorrow night if that's OK.

Feel free to swap if that's not OK.

Welcome back!

Not a comment for days doesn't help the "team spirit". Anyway, go on with your PPP, but wait for comments before play.

Welcome back Simon. Looking forward to your PPP.
