SGOTM 09 - Fifth Element

Played 1 turn, so plenty of time to shout if my plans are wrong.

It acutaly turns out we don't need that many cities building :gold: yet, so any spare are building :science:

Snuck Rock and Roll in too (finish 1T after Apollo)

Wang will give us gold for oil and aluminum. Are we OK with that, (will add production to all Mininc Inc cities) or do we wait for R&R and give him a crappy 45 ? :)

The Geng !! Ofcourse. We probably should have planned to use him for the TGD to take 3 turns of that. Oh well. No, too late. Now he's well used to continue the GAge
So, I'll start a GAge now using one GMerchant & GSci, and run Scientists in Pindus. No, with a Gsci+GSpy Stack them!!!
And move Apollo to Bulbz.

Other than that, it will be as the PPP.

Only 1-2 turns tonight, so if anyone has a problem, with the plan, shout before I do too much damage.

The better city where to build Apollo is Blubz. Sure, build R&R but be care to complete it in time to build SS parts. Do not Build it in cities which can pop GMen.
Wang will accept else than he asked: try with wine and hits, he will probably add some gpt too. Just change the offer on the table and ask him what make it work. Do always this, for any trade.

Been busy for a couple days. will try to digest all the new posts

OK. Here's the report.

TS27 report
Save, start of 180

Turn 175:

Start GA with GSpy and GSci
Hire merchants in Athens,
Move Apollo to Bulbz (6T) and set courthouse in LP
Hire Sci in Pindus.

Switched most spare specialists in minor cities to Merchants (where it didn't delay the production of anything. )
Sci up to 80% since -100 is better than +100 at the moment.

Rebased Airship into Shaka's area to see where his fleet is (if any)
Send distroyer over towards Africa too to pick up shaka fleet (if any)

Turn 176:
LP Grocer.
Spata,battleship.

Greenland. Actually build Observatory (and lab)

It actually seems that now we have CH and Market in LP, we don't need as much money buliding, so I'm building Sci while cities wait to build Sship parts.

Snuck Rock and Role in Babylon (6T)

Break for bed.

Start to convert 2 farms to workshops in Bulbz and Nippur. Sushi should be there before it's noticed in the cities.

Shaka doesn't seem to have 10s of galleys waiting for Astronomy, so we probably don't need much in the way of naval defences. With the airship over there we should spot any build up in time to build a few destroyers, but the barbs in Atlantis could cause us problems so I'll make sure our Navy is around there.

T177
Fission is in. Computers is due in 1 turn.
TGD finished in Nipur.
Set Nippur on Observatory and Lab to boost SS parts.
LP & pindus -> Sushi.

Stalin broke free from Wang but his power is way less than ours. I don't think he'll be a threat.

T178
HC wants to buy some of our oil. He's offering Clam and 7 gold. I say Yes.
Computers in set to Fiber Optincs.
I use one of our GSci to bulb 1772 from Fiber Optics. Not sure If it will end up taking a turn of anything, but it's the best use for him. Still one left in LP.

Sushi gets air lifted to Nippur.

179
Sushi spread to nippur.
Sushi spreads to Bulbz
Just Noticed we have Au in Greenland, and no mine so send some workers there.
Change two more of Bulbz farms to workships now sushi is there.

180
Fiber optics in. Set for Fusion which will be in in 1 turn.
Apollo finished in Bulbz.
Set what I think is the best build for thrusters, but please check !!
Nipur building cockpit (1T)

Here's the file.

Turn 180/330 (1775 AD) [03-Jul-2009 00:37:10]
Research begun: Fusion (1 Turns)
Pindus begins: Sid's Sushi Executive (2 turns)

I *think* I probably built some observatories and labs where I didn't really need to. I'd probably be better building Science. But, I don't *think* I lost a turn doing that.

Nice job on the TS.

We should pop a GE on turn 181 which (along with a GS + GA) will give us one more Golden Age. Back to back will keep us in GA for 13 more turns.

We have 4 more techs to get after Fusion. Composites > Satellites > Genetics > Ecology. Each of them says 2 turns, but with overflow it may be slightly less than 9 turns of research left.

We need to spread Sushi to both Lisbon and Evora (needs Mining Inc too). Evora should also build an Industrial Park.

I see the TS is in but I probably won't get a chance to analyze the save before Friday night. I should post a plan by Sunday if not sooner.

Nice job on the TS. Agreed (i hope)

No, Lisbon and Evora do not need Sushi. It can be more useful in some small city.

I see the TS is in but I probably won't get a chance to analyze the save before Friday night. I should post a plan by Sunday if not sooner.
Take it, we got only one TS after yours.

I think we'll get another GSc who can contribute 1800:science: or so too.
In this case we can be only 6 turns to the last tech. But we need to pop him before Satellites are in.

IIRC Nippur needs an uni too, then we'll build there the Genetics and the satellites parts. The engines will go in Blubz and LP.

Build the thursters in not great productive cities, we need the second line cities for the casings.

Happy 4th of July!

I've spent 6 hours going over this and trying different combinations to see what the best build que is. Please look it over and let me know what I've missed. I've done some micromanaging to fine tune the cities. I hope my math is right on the hammer production. I double checked most of them but the numbers are starting to blur together.
It looks like 7 turns before we can launch (if we insist on having a complete SS) and 10 turns to get there.

I'll be checking the trades to see if we can't get some more metals for Mining Inc.

Research:
Fusion 1T - Build our Engines 1072H
Satellites - Most expensive part left, Docking Bay 1340H
Composites 1T - Allows us to start our 5 Casings, 804H each

Genetics - Stasis Chamber 804H
Ecology - Last tech required Life Suppport - 670H

Builds:
Engines - Nippur (3T) Blubzville (4T)
Casings - TLP (4T), Sparta (4T), Nippur (2T), Pindus (4T) & Evora (1T)
Docking Bay - Lisbon (4T)
Stasis Chamber - NY(2T)
Life Support - Athens (2T)

Nippur - Finish current (1T, overflow 113H), SS Engine 1072H (4T, 500H+217.5+217.5 +217.5 = 1152.5, overflow 80.5H), SS Casing 804H

(2T, 586.25+304.5=890.75, overflow 86.75H), end 7 turns

Blubzville - Finish current (3T, overflow 111H), SS Engine 1072H (4T, 492.5+215+215+215= 1137.5, overflow 65.5H), end 7 turns

Lisbon - Switch to Spy (1T, overflow 338H), Docking Bay 1340H (5T, 558+220.5+220.5+220.5+220.5= 1440.5, overflow 100.5), end 6 turns

TLP - Finish current (3T, overflow 24H), SS Casing 804H (4T, 269.5+185.5+185.5+185.5= 826, overflow 22H) end 7 turns

Sparta - Finish current (3T, overflow 32H), SS Casing 804H (4T, 325.5+213.5+213.5+213.5=966, overflow 162H) end 7 turns

Athens - Finish current (4T, overflow 60.5H), Life Support 670H (2T, 407.75+196+196= 799.75, overflow 129.75) end 6 turns

Babylon - Finish current (1T, overflow 8H), SS Engine 1072H (5T, 255.5+241.5+241.5+241.5+241.5=1221.5 overflow 149.5H), end 6 turns

NY - Spy 26H (1T, overflow 76H), Spy 26H (1T, overflow 152H), Stasis Chamber 804H(2T, 710+ 178.5= 888.5, overflow 84.5), end 4 turns

Evora - Spy 26H (1T, overflow 138H), Spy 26H (1T, overflow 204H), SS Casing 804H(1T, 840H, overflow 36H) end 3 turns

Pindus - Mining Exec (2T, overflow 27H), SS Casing 804H (4T, 273+178.5+178.5+178.5= 808.5, overflow 4.5H) end 6 turns

Looks pretty good. I think you may have forgotten to include the 7-8 turns that it will take to finish all the required tech in your analysis though. Assuming that we can build the Life Support System in 2 turns, that means we can launch in 9-10 turns.

Based on my analysis, we can launch on turn 188 if we plan right. Research is finished on turn 187 and Nippur can build the Life Support in 1 turn. If another city can build the Stasis Chamber in 2 turns starting on the turn that Genetics is finished (186) and the other parts are placed to finish on 188 as well we will reach Alpha Centauri on turn 194. It takes 6 turns to travel with a complete ship.

Here is a list of our top 8 cities and their :hammers: yield for SS components in a golden age. I have also listed buildings which have not yet been finished which can improve :hammers: yield.

388 Launch Pad - Industrial Park (1)
273 Athens
396 Blubzville - Laboratory (1)
392 Sparta - Industrial Park (1)
783 Nippur - Industrial Park (1)
241 Babylon
357 Lisbon
301 Evora - Industrial Park (1)

edit: I realized that some of these figures include +100% from resource (copper or aluminum) and others don't.

Here is a list of the same cities with analysis of corp spread.

Launch Pad - Both corps
Athens - Has Mining Inc.
Blubzville - Both corps
Sparta - Has Mining Inc.
Nippur - Both corps
Babylon - Has Mining Inc. (and a Sushi Exec)
Lisbon - Has Mining Inc.
Evora - No corps

I would recommend building a Mining Inc. exec in Lisbon and spreading to Evora.

We also need 4 more Sushi execs if we care to spread it (can run more Engineers to increase :hammers: yield). Pindus can continue to build them.

Research complete tuns:

181 Fusion (burn 3 GMen to continue Golden Age)
182 Satellites
184 Composites
186 Genetics (possibly bulb partially)
187 Ecology
