SGOTM 10 - Xteam

I'm trying to remember if we need MT to get to Amphibious Warfare...and whether we ought to consider forgoing tanks, and beelining for AmphibWar right after Flight.

With Bombers and Cavalry, we could fight a lethal enough campaign on the continent.... and perhaps finish this a few turns faster.

In order to get to Amphibious Warfare we need to get Mass Production. Mass Production leads to both Motorized Transportation and Amphibious Warfare.

Can we use lethal bombardment to clear the single tile city of units and march in??? :mischief:

The way Bugs is going, we will need Amphib War really, really soon!! :D

It will kill the last unit but it still takes a marine to capture the city even if undefended. I pretty sure.

I lost my log for turn 1460 and the first part of 1465.

I do have the pictures which say a lot.

Here is the news from 1460:

The rest of the turn was spent setting up attacks on the remaining three west coast cities. One of the islands to our south had a worker on the second tile, so we sailed past to the next island and landed a force there.

I know that flight came in and we went for mass production due in five turns with a negative burn rate.

In 1465 we were finally in range of two of the west coast cities. Before the log was lost we had this good news:

This will be my last night playing whether I get to 10 turns or not.

To be continued…

If Leif's talking about combat on the continent... this is how we extend the useful life of cavalry... Bombard the cities with Artillery to redline, then bombard with bombers to kill, and send the Cavarly in against undefended (or much more lightly defended) cities.

Sorry, I was talking about the 1 tile city on the seas. Hate to have to wait for marines, but that is life!! :p

Got ot have a few prebuilds going so we can have Marines ready for attack soonest?

Keep up the good work Bugs!! :goodjob: :D

1465 (con’t) – Start with the southern island. There is only a cav defending and he is quickly dispactched.

Load up the troops and return to the island we skipped.

At Anasazi, there are four infantry defending. Our combat workers rail to Apache so our artillery can redline all four.

We might want to keep this one.

Once again our intrepid combat workers come through. This time with a mountain pass railroad that opens up New Chanca.

That officially removes the Barbs from their northern continent.

Start marching south. Bombard a coastal city and attack with a pillaging infantry army. It is redlined by a redlined infantryman. :gripe:

IBT – We lose the redlined army.

1470 – We start in the islands:

We are repulsed at Maastricht as wee lose both attackers.

We start in on the southern continent. Our new bombers prove to be the edge.

IBT – The Barbs land a small force on the East Coast. We’ll track down their fleet.

1475 – Bombarb and capture Olmec 2

Rinse and repeat at Cherokee 2

That gives us a nice beachhead on the southern continent. Start setting up for the next three cities.

Find the barb fleet. Sink the transport and set up a screen for the pirate ships.

I load up several transports for landings behind the lines and on the islands.

Here is the big picture on the southern continent.

Scout - since you are following me, I won't even bother to explain what I was thinking in an after action report. Bet you can't polish them off during your turns. :mischief:

BTW - I just realized you can form a silks colony and move lux to zero.

Gee, thanks for the intel, there "buddy"! :p (@Team: Bugs knows that side betting is a sure-fire way to bring out my "A-game".)

Seriously, am I up? As badly as I'd like to get back into the slugfest, I thought Capt. Buttkick was back from vacation and due for a spot in the rotation...

@Leif: Where are we in the order-of-go here?

What a beautiful sight to awaken to!! The northern half of the Barb Nation in our hands, the southern half is, well, halved, and the islands are under attack!!
Nice work Bugs! :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Haven't looked yet, so where are we on domination? Don't want to "win" that way... :mischief:

Yup, Capt's up.

Roster:
Capt - UP
Scout - On Deck
Gator
Mistfit
Leif
Bugs
- Just played, nice work.

@Capt - If you have time to play, please post a "Got it". If not, just let Scout know its his. Good luck cleaning up the mess!! :mischief: :D ;)

Huge Turnset there Bugs! Well handled

AFAICT:

9 - mainland barb cities left
5 - attackable islands around the former barb continent
2 - attackable islands to the south of our continent
2 - 1 tile islands to contend with (one W and one S of our mainlands)

so the number is 18... lets pull out the :hammer: and get this one in the books

Scout: please have at it. I'm back and have started playing again, but this is your kind of situation and I'd rather start a gotm to be honest (haven't played one in ages).
Offer is only available for a limited period of time, closing 20 hours after I hit "Post Quick Reply" so hurry ;)

I kept abandoning barb cities after a turn so they wouldn't flip. Well except for that one with Magellan's in it. We are in the 50-55% range land wise.

Population wise we're around 80%.

Go get 'em Scout!! :hammer:

Got it, and will play during the day on Saturday. Dunno if I'll be able to finish the drill in 10 turns or not... but we'll see.
