SGOTM 11 - Team Newbie

I would be happy with the game passing to Socral also - you have played good turnsets thus far and I'm sure you could bring this one home.

I also don't mind playing it.

I'm happy for anyone to play it so long as it's not me! I think that the level of micro-managing that's required does suggest PaperBeetle though...

Oh, I've already played more turns than anyone else. Surely it's gotta be the Captain to finish off! :D
But I'll keep with the long strategy essays until the end, heh he.

OK OK, if you bribe me to, I'll do it...
I hope I can play later on, but probably it will be tomorrow in the morning...

So, if someone has comments to make you still have a chance...

I'd try to do it in 5 turns.
Consequences: Temple rushing only this turn. Lib rushing only next turn.
Otherwise maybe a Settler to fill the gaps.
Try to fight them back and maybe conquer a little of England. With another leader we could hit them hard.

Try to fill the last gaps on our continent.

Forgot to mention I think there is another leader knocking about in Germany somewhere. I haven't done anything with him yet.

For Beta, I would recommend using only settlers anyway - my earlier "Black Dot Map" assumed no culture on Beta, for example.
By concentrating on settlers on Beta, we would allow for the (small) chance that we get lucky against England and win it in less than 5 turns.

We're gonna be the first team to finish :bounce:
We'll be able to read everyone else's threads  - or will we? The rules don't say if we have to wait until the competition is over...

I'll start playing in 2 hours...once we have submitted our finalsave, we are allowed to read the other one's threads...

910 AD :
Will this be the final turnset of Team Newbie?
The eyes of the whole world are looking down to Shakaynnek, Socral of the Zulus.
He is looking over the already big territory of Team Zulu, Shaka of the Newbies...
The Americans are dead but some Viking units are not looking nice. I guess they are unhappy that their valuable towns got taken. Still they got their capital which will be hard to take the next turn.
But there is some strange unit with a strange name that can only move...neither attack or defend. Is that an opportunity?
It looks pretty much so, we can form an army and that could attack Heidelberg twice.

So...the leader moves to hamburg, forms an army which gets filled with 3 bystanding cavs. Now, heidelberg is Zulu territory too. The Germans only have their town on the island which should fall next turn.
Rush some libs and Temples just in case we need it...

920 AD - The counter attacks kill some of our units, but no town ot lost.

Capture Miami from France.
Capture nuremberg which kills the Germans.
Capture Stavanger.
Capture Warwick from the English.

Shift some units cause of flip risk and shift some over to attack England soon.

930 AD- Trondheim and Birka have deposed. I'd like to abandon some Viking towns but we don't have Settlers to fill the gap.

Recapture both towns.
Capture Newcastle and Nottingham.
We are lucky and capture the two Viking towns on the island with 2cavs.

We capture Reijkjavik and get a leader there.

134 tiles to win. Rush a few Settlers. And shift more units towards England. Can this be won in 950 AD?Maybe.

940 AD - Basically no attacks and no flips in hte interturn.

104 tiles to go at the beginning of the turn.

Capture covnetry. Found 2 towns in former Scandinavia and one in former Germany.

Capture London!!!!!!
Capture Hastings. now 48 tiles to go.

Capture York.
Found another town in former Scandinavia. 29 tiles to go.
Capture Canterbury with two lucky Cavs. 20 tiles to go and England down to 1 city which can't be taken next turn cause it's hidden behind mountains.

Disband some more units for Settlers. 16 tiles to limit after founding another town in former Germany. I don't know whether we'll have enough expansion to do that but rush a lib for expansion next turn.

950 Ad......

Thanks to all of the team for playing. Considering our situation before the game started, we played very well, I mean very very well....

Probably klarius will beat us by a few turns, but that's quite good. We had chosen good strategy and played it fine!

BTW, i know that someone will ask: I have submitted the final file and everything is fine, just the final save is suppressed on the progress page.

It was an honor to be your captain ! ;-)

Good stuff on the rushed library btw - that will make one PaperBeetle very happy I am sure!

Well played captain! :p 950AD that's about 1000 years faster than most of my wins! Woohoo! I'm amazed that our troops took that many English towns.:crazyeye:

Yes, we can read them...first one to read the whole thread of Team Shaka gets an applause from me....
