Tech Path: Future Tech requires Genetics and Stealth, is that correct? The path to this looks like:

Flight > Assembly Line > Rifling > Industrialism > Rocketry > Satellites > Advanced Flight > Plastics > Composites > Stealth.
Refrigeration > Superconductors > Genetics.
> Future Tech

If we take Flight next we can kill Humbaba with Bombers + any land unit.

How are our Legendary Cities looking? Can we get an estimate on if we are limited by the Cultural VC or the Future Tech requirement?
 
Were a long long way from a cultural victory.

Paris 192 turns to legendary. @224 per turn

Bibracte culture 3000 so 47000 to go @ 220 per turn.

Thebes @1990 culture @199 per turn.

Atm not all our legendary cities have control of their BFC so that should be adjusted as will. Also FS will boost our culture output considerably.

If it wasn't for the fact we need 2 legendary cities I would probably opt for space as a victory condition. :)

No hurry with Humbaba as he's not going anywhere so I would go for AL next.
 
Ok, so perhaps we should rebalance our economy a little bit.

During my turnset I changed some artist specialists to merchants. It looks like this was a mistake and subsequently corrected. Briefly starving some cities so they produce a Great Person is a great idea - this essentially sacrifices the production/commerce of some cities for a good chunk of Transferable culture.

The reason Lyons was so heavily invested in GArtists was because I thought it was our second Legendary city. This has now changed to Thebes? The fact that GArtists are more important than commerce is another reason to keep the artists on here.

Mines vs Windmills - When we are running a culture slider of 0%, extra :commerce: does NOTHING to improve :culture: output. We're better off working high :hammers: tiles and building Culture. Are our Legendary cities building Culture?

We have plenty of work to do on religion spreading. Lyons doesn't have Islam or a Christian Cathedral, Paris doesn't have Christianity or an Islam Mosque, Bibracte doesn't have Islam. These all need to be top priorities. None of them have Creative Constructions. Globe Theatre and Hermitage haven't been built in legendary cities, these (esp Hermitage) should be built asap.

Superfluous Great People like this GS might be better expended in a Golden Age. It's quite likely that we will get more non-Artist Great People to partner it up with.

At this rate we could probably make our second VC Space Race and slow build the SS parts before we reach the mandatory 2 Legendary Cities. UN is an afterthought.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say we will win this game within 80 turns, ie, by T340. There are 25 days remaining to the deadline (extended to 31st Jan). Assuming 10-turn turnsets we need to play a new set every 3 days.

We can (and should) start building the UN (in a non-culture city) in 2 turns. I think with our population (keep spreading Sid's Sushi) we should easily be able to win UN with one buddy voting for us (Qin and Hammy will now).

We can also build Apollo and the parts but I think (don't have save open) we would need extra techs (not on the way to Future Tech) for some parts.

10 turns every three days seems good as a minimum from now.

heehee one of the problems of rushing and not having so much input regarding the cultural bit.

Never even thought about the Hermitage!!! Then again don't do many cultural victories either.

2 of Bibracte - Lyons - Thebes.

Always had my GP farm as a cultural city which was why I automatically assumed Thebes would be one and no-one said anything against it.

We do have 2 creative construction executives heading to the East with another couple being built. Probably don't need the one from Thebes which hasn't been started yet and get it to build something else instead.

We also will get a boost to our cultural output with Civilized Jewellers and Free Speech so might still be quicker for a cultural victory than space with the requirement for 2 legendary cities anyway.

IMO, it is a good idea.

If yes, we need to be clear on the civics we wish to run for the balance of the game.
 
Hmmm... I'm reluctant to use up a GArtist for a golden age. How many turns until our next Great Person is born? We could wait until then. I'm not opposed to a Golden Age, in fact I think it is a good idea, I'd just like to avoid using up GArtists.

Do we have a GArtist waiting in Heliopolis to found the Jewellers Corp?

Civics: I agree with Sleepless' list: Representation + Free Speech + Caste System + Environmentalism + Free Religion.

I would keep Caste System because it is important that we can run lots of Artist specialists. Using the culture slider to offset emancipation :mad: has the side benefit of generating more culture.

@Ron - if you can play more than 10 turns, that would be good I think.

Well looks like we are well on our way still without a close look at the save think we will manage future tech 1 before a cultural victory. Have to concentrate on getting some friendly civs who will vote for us in the UN victory.

As already mentioned gift SB up to Med and get him to adopt enviro with us should be enough to get his votes. Obv we need enviro as well. We do need time for the shared fav civic bonus to work so should do this asap imho.

Work on Hammy and use Bureau as a shared fav civic. Not sure if having a def pact with Sal will be enough for his votes but wouldn't hurt either. Qin will be our oppo so we need the AI to like us more than him.

Need to work on killing Humbab as well though still plenty of time for that. Perhaps build a few marines and couple of bombers should do it??

Regarding spreading Corporations. Obv we want Sids in as many cities as possible for the extra pop. The other 2 aren't worth it. With the cost of

a. Spreading the Corporation

b. Building the Exec.

c. Ongoing cost being a slight negative. I noticed our income go down when spreading.

So wouldn't bother with anything other than Sids.
 
Hmmm... I'm reluctant to use up a GArtist for a golden age. How many turns until our next Great Person is born? We could wait until then. I'm not opposed to a Golden Age, in fact I think it is a good idea, I'd just like to avoid using up GArtists.

Do we have a GArtist waiting in Heliopolis to found the Jewellers Corp?

Mmm seems we forgot one of the benefits of a Golden Age. The boost to GP production. I'm sure maxing out a couple of cities even if they starved would have produced more artists than the one we would have burnt.

Still we do need to plan to complete our 2 victory conditions in the same turn so when we'd better make sure we get all the needed votes to get the UN win on the same turn we burn whatever artists we need to give us the cultural victory. certainly don't want to win the Cultural and lose the UN!!!! :)
