SGOTM 16 - Misfit Gypsy Nuts

I think you are right, I switched to FM on T276 for the 25% savings. This appears to show more like a 33% savings however.

When I spread to Memphis on T278, it cost ~20g/t to our bottom line. Also, when I netted the last fish, it seemed to cost us a bit also, but wasn't really paying attention because I didn't think it would make an impact.

What this does not take into account(just realized), Memphis can now support 7 Merchants eventually. Eventually being the key word here. We could immediately pull off some tiles and assign Merchants, but I did not do this.

I really don't use Corps much in my games, I'm more a State Property Workshop/Windmill player. This has been a bit of an education for me in that respect.

Civ Jewelers is great really, because it is gold neutral and culture positive in new cities while still making gold in the HQ city * 200%.

Free Market: The difference isn't just 25%, because I assume we changed from Environmentalism which was adding 25% to the cost. I'm not going to pretend to know exactly how these costs/discounts are applied though.

Netting the fish would certainly have increased our costs, since the corporation upkeep cost is directly proportional the number of resources you have of the type.

Civ Jewelers: Gold neutral but culture positive... but culture positive is pretty useless in non-legendary cities. It's marginal if the the cost of producing the executive and the subsequent cost of using him would exceed the gold generated in the HQ, especially with only 30 or so turns left.

We were still running Mercantilism when I switched. So we got a big boost in foreign trade as well.

I'm not saying to keep spreading Jewelers, just that it seems a pretty economical way to add culture. Our 3 legendary have it now, so we should be good to just tech and try to time the ending properly!

No point in spreading anything now. With the cost of spreading the corp just not worth it for the few turns left.

Couple of thoughts.

Sal is furious with Ham if they declare war we need to bribe straight away to stop it. We dont want any de-merits for refusing to join.

Hollywood in Bibracte as mentioned before its not working its BFC and we can workshop some tiles to speed up the build there. Might be able to save a couple of turns.

Currently UN victory vote requires 750 ish of 1130 need to load the game to check. If we are just shy of 50% pop this would give us aprox 565 votes meaning we need another 200 approx. Can one civ supply that?? If not we need 2 we can bribe Qin out of bureau and adopt it ourselves late on to get Hams votes and again we should adopt enviro to guarantee SBs votes also bribing him into it.

Again would a golden age speed up our victory??? We lose 1 GA but we can make sure we make from the GP boost and our tech/income with 37 cities should jump considerably.

I think we should run one.

I still think we wait for the next 2 Great People: if we get another non-GArtist then we can use that. If still all artists, then sure ;)

Good observation re Hammu and Sal. A war could only be bad for us.

We could try encouraging Hammu or Sal into Free Religion. That should improve their relationship a bit.

We could try encouraging Hammu or Sal into Free Religion. That should improve their relationship a bit.

Should be able to bribe to stop the war anyway so not overly worried just something someone should note in there turnset to stop asap regardless of the cost.

UN votes.. the UN will be built in a couple of turns which will give us a rough idea of how many votes people have and what we will need to gain the UN victory and whether we just need 1 or 2 civs. We will win the UN secretary though and our first vote should be for the extra trade route. This will help counter a change to Enviro if we decide to go that way for SB's votes.

Seems that most people aren't keen though?

Assuming Lyons is our 3rd legendary city should its scientists change to artists?

I think Science rate will be our determining factor for completion. That is why I kept the scientists working. Most of our GArtists will be able to go to Lyons, as Paris and Bibracte are nearly equal in culture and Bibracte is gaining with more buildings to build.

Played up to our next GP, we got another GA :-)

There's 6 bombers and 3 marines ready next turn, to attack humbaba.
I did a test attack on him, and the bombers reduce his strength by 8% pr. hit.

We're very close to running 0% gold :-)

Nice work McA.

I think we should write off trying to get Saladin's vote. Him demanding we cancel trades with Hammu was rightfully rejected. If Hammu were to propose the opposite...? I think if that were to happen we should cancel trades with Saladin.

It looks like we will need both of Hammu and SB to vote for us. Can we get a screenshot of Diplo relations and the UN Members screen?

Our tech rate is excellent. :king: Time to swing the pendulum a little more toward Culture? At the very least, Lyons could switch to artists specialists instead of scientists.

Minor point on tech path - we should go for Genetics before Advanced Flight, since we get bonus :health:

Looking good McArine!

Screens for aj!

Thanks Ron.
Hidden mods are -1 for difficulty level and the AI specific Base Attitude. For Qin this gives us an extra +1, for SB, Sal and Hammu this is 0.
Despite what the BUG Poll says, I think we can win the game as things stand. Still, when it comes time for the actual vote we should switch to Bureau + Enviro anyway to at least get an extra +1.

Do we have an updated idea of how many turns to complete Future Tech we are?

How are the Legendary Cities going? Any improvement in their culture output?

Is it right that there are 6 turns between UN votes? Looks like we will have votes on T293, T299, T305, T311 (SecGen Vote), T317. Ideally we would win on the T305 vote, but not sure our Cultural VC and Future Tech will be ready by then.

T289 now

Tech screen....says 20 turns

We have 5 Great Artists, 2 more if odds hold as they should.

Paris = 29949 + 1216/t
Bibracte = 24437 + 1285/t....we can actually gain a bit here if we work the Towns(2) and we will grow into another Artist in 8 turns
Lyons = 18496 +1071/t

Right now, Victory screen says 17, 20, 30

We have 3 turns to next vote, and 3 votes to next election. I think that means the election vote will be 1 sooner than aj predicts, so the T305 vote.

If we get all our Great Artists, we will be able to bulb 1, 2, 4. This would speed our victory to 14 turns if my math is right.

Tech rate is still holding us back I think.;)

I think we need to be like 70/30 Science/Culture

On a side note, as anyone ever experienced not being able to be a Full Member of the AP voting even though you were in the right religion and held the most votes? I am playing a solo game where this just happened, and I can't figure out why.

Have you researched/traded for Mass Media? This would do it, otherwise

I can play over the weekend, will put up a PPP tomorrow or so...

I think the UN vote comes up on the IBT after the F9 screen shows 0 turns to next vote. So vote would come up end of T292,298,304 if I'm correct about the spacing and other things. Therefore, we need to learn Future Tech also at the end of T304, and have our culture all set up to do the final bombs on T305.

So... we have
* 15 turns to learn Future Tech.
* 15 turns to generate another 2 GArtists. (actually 14... last thing we want is to put UN victory up for vote and then pop a GS!)
* 16 turns to complete culture.

Is this possible?

Tech first: Looks to me like we have some of Advanced Flight (~2000) + Superconductors (10100) + Genetics (10900) + Stealth (12500) + Future Tech (15600) = 51100. Factor in the "OR Prereq" bonus, effectively reducing that to 51100/1.2 = 42600. One of McA's screenshots showed us making 3080:science:/turn. Seems to me like we should be able to manage the Future Tech requirement in about 14.1 turns.

GP requirement: I don't have the data to see if we are on track for this...

As for culture: are we putting MAXIMUM effort in to generating culture in our legendary cities? Ron's already noted that Bibracte could work a couple more Towns. How about slowly starving the cities and hiring more artists instead of farms?

Another possibility: Paris almost doesn't need a GArtist bomb if we can get it up to 1335 :culture:/turn. As Sleepless has been campaigning for some time, we could use that GArtist to launch a Golden Age and a) help Paris reach the 1335 cpt mark, and b) boost our tech rate.

Ron, are you saying that the SecGen vote is actually on T305? I would have interpreted the 3 votes to next election as saying SecGen vote is T311. If you are right Ron, then this fine tuning isn't necessary at all, because we will have to wait until T311 in any case, which would be a shame.

Have you defied anything?

I defied the first "Stop the War" vote, but I was in a different religion then. I subsequently spread the AP religion to all my cities and switched religions so I could control the AP and wouldn't have to defy in the future.

So... we have
* 15 turns to learn Future Tech.

I "think" so, I don't play many games out that far, but when I was preparing for the AP vote in the game ^, when the Members screen said 1 Vote to next election, the election happened "next". If it says 3 now, then we should get 2 votes followed by a Sec Gen Vote.
