SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

I can't play more today unless I maybe roll to T114. And as I said a while back, my schedule doesn't really open up until Wednesday. But these turns aren't too long, so maybe I'll be done by Wed. Or at least play until the next interesting thing happens.

Yes, that would be good. Then you could just play two turnsets. :p

Take your time. I doubt I can take over before the end of next week. Probably not until Nov 1.

Pollina, do understand the dogpile mechanics? Since Ais can't bribe each other on us, it seems like that's the most likely scenario in which we have unexpected stuff coming from Brennus, hanni and Darius.

Looks like TTf acquired BW then revolted to Slavery.

The question is, did they tech it or did they steal it after running scientists to get a Great Spy earlier at less than a 100% gene pool?

Also note that their culture seems to be rising at a steeper slant than ours, though that migght be distorted somehow.

Dogpile mechanics are explained here and here. Looks like the AI will only consider dogpile wars against landtargets. So the only AI who could start a dogpile war against us (or Sal!) at this point is Darius (who has a iDogpileWarRand of 100 and is thus fairly unlikely to declare one).

To be 100% safe from a dogpile war against Darius we would have to keep him at pleased or ensure that:

our_power >= (4/3*power_Darius+power_Saladin)*2/3

Assuming we can steal some of workers from Darius, would it make sense to capture Nubian instead of Baghdad? We could chop out some praets/galleys there, then gift it to Sal on the turns we DoW and immediately raze it with a chariot. We would have decent odds to take it without losses. Could be some easy XP. Nubian would also come out of revolt much earlier than Baghdad. I still don't like how an early DoW pushes Sal into war mode. Every extra Lb he builds in Mecca will cost us 3-4 praets!

INteresting idea. Zoom-out culture mode reveals a Sal green cube at Nub-SW!?! (and Nubian-NW) That means only 4 chops instead of 5, which is 2.5 units instead 3. Of course, we could also chop 1-2 forests outside of the culture, if we have enough workers.

Problem would be timing. We can't do it now because Rome can't qualify the 6th city. How soon could Rome accommodate CIty #6?

Nubian looks like it would count as a liberation city, for what it's worth. MOre important, it would be +10 WarSuccess, which would speed up Sal's willingness to cease fire, which might prove critical in terms of keeping Mecca.

Sal or other AI might try to capture it soon too.

T120 p12
T122 Parthenon, capture Nubian
T125 Nubian out of resistance
T126 galley
T127 prat1
T128 prat2

We'd have to have an operational galley chain in place to use the units against Mecca. If the goal is to gain 6XP for the Mecca attack and the extra units for later, then it looks good to me. Three CRII prats for Mecca sounds appealing. We'd have to build another 3XP prat in HC next, instead of the cat.

I'll do the Prat in HC instead of cat in case we go for whatever you two are cooking up. I'm gonna play a couple turns starting in the next half hour.

Another possibility would be to go: Nubian-(giftNub)Baghdad-Najran(raze), building 3 prats in Nubian which target Najran.

This probably captures Mecca 15-25t later which we would simply plan to do with a huge stack of cats.

This would give us our Paya gold, which doesn't appear likely to be available in trade. We risk Sal running even farther away, possibly acquiring triremes and/or maces, but we give ourselves solid chances for the 3 Aes wonders + GLib.

I'm not convinced Mecca will be defended with an inordinant number of lbs if we don't threaten it till our SoD is ready.

Baghdad can then store our accumulating SoD.

We might also get our super medic in the process, although I hope we don't have that many battles. Maybe an accuracy cat or two.

NOTE: That would mean we'd have to whip a monument in Baghdad first to get the quicker border expansion (no Stonehenge).
Note2: Also have to guard against Sal re-settling Najran and grabbing back the gold tile.

.

More.

We could gift Nubian to Darius. Then if Rome is at pop14, we could capture and gift Najran to Darius. Later we could then gift Medina to Darius (or raze). That would give us +2gpt from the Hindu shrine.

It would be nice to get Rome big enough rapidly to be able Medina, for example, till we whip it to death. We don't necessarily gift Medina to Darius long enough to come out of resistance. Perhaps just long enough to get Rome to pop16. Food for thought.

Turnset Report

T113

We chose not to DoW for 2 workers.
We reveal StoneIvory aka Gordium to be size 1 and it has 1 Immortal. A barb Archer is 1N.

T114
Attempt to steal...
Spoiler :
Currency!
Still no one else has Aes.
A Darius Spear killed the barb.

Our banana mine (whatever that is) finishes just in time for Size 10, dropping Parthenon drops to 8t (T122) without any effort. i.e. we can work another farm at size 11.

T115
Najran: archer, sword
Baghdad: archer, Axe
We will see Mecca next turn.

Hannibal is in war prep! :run:
Any adjustments to our units for that?

Darius HBR (4)

We DoW :ar15:Darius:spank:

3/5 chariot kills archer at 88% and is now 5xp.
Both chariots capture 2 stone workers. :assimilate::assimilate:
WoodyII(Ewar) captures DaGift worker. :assimilate:

Both chariots have time to return to Rome for T122.

If we don't get attacked immediately, we should be able to escape, and we have enough warsuccess to CF or peace on T117.

Now we are short one chariot (our 10th attacker) on T122. I guess I should have sent 2 backups instead of just 1.

T116
 We escape E - SE. No Darius unit can reach us. We are threatening 2 cities. Guaranteed peace next turn.

Medina: LB 2xarcher Axe, HA
Mecca: Archer, Sword, spear, Cat
sabProd: 76h

Sal just settled between Nubian and us. Lots of forests

Nubian has only 2 archers.

T117
Angle (barb city north of us) is razed by Hanni.

Darius will CF or give us peace + 60 + 3gpt. I say peace, but I will stop for the night.

We still have the option to put a 2xp chariot on the galley instead of something, but I would go with the big guys.

Medina: 2xarcher Axe (HA and LB moved out)
Mecca: Archer, Sword, spear (Cat moved out)

uploaded.

I wouldn't wory about unit adjustments. Our borders give us a faiir amount of warning and you're planning to have a bunch of units hanging around Rome.

If a Hannistack arrives at the border of Bovino, we could consider gifting it to Darius, see if Hanni DoWs him instead.

We could also capture pop2 Angle and gift to Darius. He's likely to have 2 ivories soon, in that case.

I sub another prat in HC (for the 3xpCat) because we could built it without whipping if we want HC to grow to size 5. The Prat is born early enough to get to Rome T122, the Cat is not.
I still want to whip HC harder. It only has (5) anger.
