SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

Fifth Element appears to have finished, posting in the lurkers thread. They must have gone astronautical.

Hm...their culture graph seems dubious.

That's 4.2 cpt. Maybe they're in revolt for some turns? Weird.

That's more like it. 115 cpt.

I've uploaded the save on t228, just before the battle of Bibracte.
Brennus has 10 rifles. We have a gajillion units. I just need to sleep on the decisions, but I can continue tomorrow.
We're kind of in position to DoW Gil and Sal next turn (t229), but an extra turn would help a little, if we want to delay Bibracte a turn. However, I probably think we should just press ahead.

However, the save is free for someone else to grab the glory if they wish. Otherwise I'll finish it off tomorrow (and post screenshots in the morning).

What are the plans for capturing Baghdad? Pollina was planning to use the galleys that are currently at Isin-3E1N...

The war with Sal could be a bit messy because he has units spread out.

We have to be careful of Giggle's mini SOD in Girsu. We don't want him to capture Nibru...

For Brennus' last city, it has 7 rifles listed. I wonder how many have vacated and gone to Bibracte?

Bring it home, ZPV!!

I'm having strong pangs of ambivalence. I can't wait to finish the game but I don't want our collaboration and virtual companionship to end...

I'm getting ready to play to the end now. I just can't seem to get good screenshots. After we're done I might fiddle around a bit (to deselect units for instance) and put something up.
Got it again.

It should "only" be a few turns, starting in maybe half an hour.

Baghdad only has 60% culture, so it can be attacked on DoW+1 if we move through Najran, can't it? Sal will get messy, but everything's close together, so worst case I'll just round all our spare healthy Cuirs on wherever the problem is.

Re: Gil's stack: that's why I compromised on the unit count for the northern island - so I could transport 10 units across the bay and occupy Nibru right away.

There were some extra floating rifles in Celtic land. I think there are maybe 5 or 6 in the last city, but I'm not sure.

Turnset report, t228-end?

t228, continued
Bibracte is razed
We lost 5 cannons - 4 as initial sacrifices, and one for "XP management".

Units move into position - a small stack approaches Brennus's last city (4 cannons, 4 grens and a few cuirs), which has 4 rifles at the moment.
A large stack moves to Nibru. We have between 25 and 30 cuirs up there.
6 cuirs stay behind for Eridu. If that's not enough, we have 15 powerful 1-movers as backup.

IBT:
Gil settles a new city, near Vienne. Enforced no-man's-land means we can attack it with 1-movers from Bibracte.

t229
We DoW Gil!

Girsu is razed!
Gil's stack is dead. We didn't lose any cuirs, though we really should have lost 1 or 2. We had 2 spare units for the battle, plus 9 more that couldn't reach. Those 9 move to threaten Gil's next city. :)
6 units (2 cannons, 4 cuirs) land at Umma (4 defenders). That's the tightest battle to come.
10 units (2 cannons, 8 cuirs) land at Shuppurak (5 defenders).
Some galleys will survive to transfer units from A to B if needed - Gil doesn't have 8 caravels in range.

Gil's new city is razed by grens.
Stacks move to threaten all of Gil's cities!

We DoW Saladin!
Attacking Khurusan, our 24XP C4 Cuir attacks the top defender (of three) @50% and wins! That'll be a C5 unit, just in time to save the rest of our army! [party]
Khurusan is razed!
Najran is razed!

1 withdrawal.
8 Cuirs move to threaten Baghdad (3 defenders)
The rest of our units fan out to threaten all of Sal's cities!

IBT:
Gil kills three of our galleys near Shuppurak.

t230
Basra is razed! 1 loss, 1 withdrawal.
Fustat is razed! 1 loss (CR3 praet. If I'd been thinking, that would have been upgraded to a gren.)
Nubian is razed! 1 loss.
We milk some GG points from Sal's units floating around before...
Baghdad is razed! 1 loss, 1 withdrawal.

Saladin is eliminated.

Ergili is razed!

Darius is eliminated.

Isurium is razed! We lost 4 sacrificial cannons, our 4 grens all won.

Brennus is eliminated.

Eridu is razed! We lost 1 sacrificial cannon.
Now for the islands...
Umma is razed. We lost the CR3 cannon, then the CR2 cannon withdrew and all 4 cuirs won! :yup:
Shuppurak is razed. Similar story, except we had some extra cuirs here. 1 cannon lost, 1 cuir withdrew.
Just for fun, the 28XP cuir gets a GG, and Combat 6.
Now that Gilgamesh is down to one redlined unit in his last city, the killing blow goes to...

I've got up to t230.
I think I can kill Brennus, Darius, Gil and Sal all on this turn!

Nibru is razed? I thought we owned it. Friendly fire?

Good point. I'll have to update that later. It was really the city near Nibru. I can't remember what it was called.

We're all done, folks! Our victory save has been uploaded.
Thanks for letting me in despite being a few minutes late for the party. :)

[party]

All the AIs were eliminated t230, for a t231 (AD 1605) victory!

Here's a screenshot of Rome in all its glory:
