SGOTM 23 - Turbo Ants

I can't review the plan in detail but my vote is pedal to the medal on HBR rushing Hatty. Civ is a war game after all. ;)

If we were going for an AP cheese victory, I might reconsider but we have to tech all the way to RR... and fight all the way across the continent.
 
ok, I had a moment of hesitation. Getting something like free Guilds is not worth it compared to having those wonders in our hands. And waiting for the AI to pick the right tech is frustrating. Play when you're ready, but I will be back online this evening (California time)

Plus the stolen techs don't come for free. I think we'll still want to steal whatever we can from Hatty, especially to get them much earlier if possible. Math in particular would be nice. IW we'll probably get in trade. If Gandhi techs Masonry next and doesn't meet more without it, he'll possibly trade it. Need to keep an eye out for that, trade for it before he starts a wonder. If we're willing to trade ALpha to him for Masonry :eek: then itmight be worth gifting him BW. I'm not pushing that, but thoughts anyone?
 
Just so we're on the same page planning our end game. Knowing what we now know about this map, I feel like we could get RR T130 on this map--if that were our only goal-- with amazing boosters like free Glib and free Mids, tons of food, etc. It's a shorter tech path than getting Mining Inc because we don't need Corp and its pre-reqs.
However, we also have to win the game, so we will be whipping more army which will slow down our tech. Preventing us from having the 5-ish GP farms and extra rep-specialists other places.

Anyone agree or disagree that T140 is a realistic goal to win this game?

Is Literature on our tech path? I foresee us having a few hammer cities and everything else research cities of one kind or another. I'm even wondering how many more cottages we need in Paris. Maybe not bother with Oxford. Is it worth it? Maybe farms instead.

Yea, but I was more dreaming about getting free techs at Friendly. Could be a great way for another team to catch up to us, but again, I'm on board with the DIY plan.
But how do we catch up with her to trade for them? When and how will we even get to 100bpt? (rhetorical question) I'd like to see another team go that route so we can compare. If she didn't have the Pyramids. I guess we could capture only Thebes and leave her with Alexandria. That would give us Islam so we could revolt and still get her to Friendly.

Mostly I'm just waiting for you to see Alexandria, so I can observe your :drool: quotient. Hope you don't ruin your keyboard. :D It's got to have a mess of fp cottages or gold or something.
 
After T48 Hatty teched Hunting-Code of Laws! :eek: Mitchum, if you have any saves, when you get a chance, take a look at when she completed CoL and what her GNP was while she was teching it. That should give us a decent idea of just how astronomical her bpt is.
 
Another morsel for thought. I have Paris building a scout for the hammer OF. If we gift away our copper, we could 1) complete the mine a turn sooner, and 2) build a warrior instead of the scout. Can we get by without copper for 10t?

1. Channeled my inner Dhoom and decided to chop Paris-2e instead. It can't help re-growth and we'll eventually want to chop it anyway. The other contirbutes to re-growth on an otherwise useless BFC grass tile. The +4h allows us to work cottages +2t and settle Stone City a turn sooner. Mostly, it allows our workers to save multiple turns.
2. The Stone City MM is pretty lame. Slow growth. If anyone sees an improvement, please let me know.

1. CF with Fred.
2. Garrison CEB.
3. Monitor tech trades.
4. Monitor Hatty's tech progress.
5. Monitor resource trades.
6. Monitor Hatty's city builds.
7. Continue scouting Gandhi, Joao, Hatty.

Questions;
1. Trade copper or not? Allows us to build a warrior instead of a scout in this cycle and maybe more warriors if we choose. I don't need to know till T59. The scoutmight be useful for scouting Alex, then Stalin, then the Orient from the north, so it's not horrible. But with all our whipping, we could use more garrisons.
2. Gift Gandhi BW?
3. Why no 3c TR with York?

Can you find one more worker turn somewhere? At the moment you're spending 2 worker turns to settle Stone City one turn earlier. 3 turns to chop the roaded forest is a much bigger boost since the work boat comes out early. I think you could probably afford to move Worker #2 back a turn to squeeze the extra chop-turn in after the copper, but Paris would need to be reworked.

That is, workers 1 and 2 would road + pasture the horse, mine the copper, and then chop the forest with the road on it.

I don't think Churchill has York hooked up yet (or it's hooked up by neutral coast which we haven't explored). All the culture we can see is from London so we don't know where York is.

What do we tech after HBR? I guess I'd consider Masonry, but then it's Currency, CoL, CS.

If no one objects to chopping a Paris BFC forest for Stone City, I agree that it's a good idea. I'll work out an alternative plan for that.

Your wish is my command. Maybe I can sync that with an available galley, so he doesn't have to trudge across the Dolomites.

Good question. There's also 100% eps on Hatty. We'll see what she completes in the next 6t.Or 0%. I guess we were liking Currency before. That might take a while to get in trade.

That looks like a stopping point if we haven't decided.
