SGOTM 23 - Turbo Ants

GA started with Athens GM
Memed OB was pointless since we don't have foreign trade rts, but I did it.
Mao gets Clam for 2gpt
Stalin gets Clam for 1

I gave Churchill stuff we had 3+. So not wine or wheat yet. We are giving 6 things so far.
I guess my concern is having a spy pillage our last one of something.
Wheat seems safe to give since we could always get it from someone else.
Wine is harder to replace.

Spies. What can they do? We have 29 EPs on Churchil. Maybe we plan to steal $ from him?
Is it worth the risk of getting -1 if the spy gets caught? Or do you only get -1 if a mission fails?
I think flipping Churchill to Castes is very important. I was thinking in terms of using them to sabotage his iron, but it won't happen in time. I suppose we could use them to fogbust in the south. Wish I'd thought of that before.

Can't think of anything else...other than disbanding them. :D

Can't we put our spy on one of our resources to increase the likelihood of catching his? Or in one of our cities? We might want to protect Hamburg against a spy mission, such as poison water. That would screw up our GP plan. Ouch. Can we run a counterintelligence mission asap? I forget, do we do that against a particular AI?

The tech plan and GP plans posted most recently don't align. We don't get the Edu GS early enough to do the fancy 3t Steel idea I had to save 1t.

Redo the GP plan? or delay 1t with original plan?
Let me think if there's another way to tweak the tech plan.

Original Plan:
113 GunP
114 Chem
118 Steel (small OF)
119 Paper (more OF)
120 Edu (massive OF)
(bulb PPress)
121 PPress (extreme OF)
(bulb Econ)
122 Econ (~2000 overflow)
123 RepParts
124 Liberalism/ free Steam/5 bulb 3-bulb RR.
125 RR

yea, we'd have to move the spy to a Stalin city. wait 1 turn. do the mission.

To shorten Steel to 3t we'd need another 400 beakers spread out over the next 6 turns...so about 56 raw bpt. Doable.

Sadly, we have zero cities coming out of resistance in the next 6 turns :( Maybe Bombay for 1 turn.

We hit another wall...
I was about to suggest we turn all of our single-merchant cities to single-scientists. Then with a few tweaks we could get Steel 1t early. But then I realized it won't matter. Our GS for Edu comes T119. We would have nothing to research on T118.

Long story short. We go with the original plan that has us win T126 at the earliest.

To pull off back-to-back-to-back 1-turn techs: RepParts, Liberalism, RR (with 3 bulbs),
we will need to run full scientists those last 3-4 turns. Turns 121-124.
So no merchants--which now provide 118:gold: Without those, we're at about -300gpt right now.
Turns 121-124, it might be -400 or more?
Just wondering if we can support that.

I couldn't do some of the MM. For example, I don't know if Thebes is going to do some Knights first, I assume grow 1 more, and then settle into the GM production plan. And Lisbon? But at least I got a good feel for our tech pace.

So is there any point if trying to get a T118 GS for edu?

Once again Munich would be the problem.

We could probably get Paris to pop the 600gpp probably as early as T116, but Munich would have to be substituted for Fredburg maybe? let me work on it...
No, Fred can't handle getting 700 by T119. It could do T120...thinking... no, that's too late.

If we want to produce the last GP on T124, then Thebes can work all 5 mines starting now and build 3 knights. Work 5 merchants starting T113 at pop13. Actually there are plenty of options if we are going to relax the GP date.

There's also the question of a back-up if Stalin messes with the Hamburg GM, which makes me very nervous, now that we thought of the possibility. we pushed the HamGP way back to T121. Gives Stalin a lot of time to make mischief. We could squeeze out a pure GM back-up in Istanbul on T123 or a 10.44% GA muggle in Lisbon on T123.

Problem with using Istanbul for the GM is wasting our academy there, although hammers instead of merchants is even more of a waste of the academy. :)

Yea, the only tight dates are the Econ, Edu and PP. The last 2 GMs have room.
Hey wait a minute, there's only 2 GMs for RR? I thought we had 3. Maybe it's not too late to put another in. Fred can probably handle the 800 gpp around T122, then 123 Hamb, 124 Thebes
Or, like you said, Istanbul

If not then, Shirley, we will spend another turn researching RR.

Base espionage costs:

Destroy improvement: 75; dist to sheep: 110%, final cost: ~92 not including spy bonus.
Poison water/Unhappy: 120; dist to Hamburg: 111%, final cost: ~149 not incl spy.
Counter espionage: 100

Stalin currently has 94 eps on us.
EP Spending factor: 88% in our favor, so ~112% for Stalin.

Stalin could easily pillage our sheep pasture. His spy would have to sit on the Hamburg tile for 3-4t, depending on his eps on us growing.

That keeps happening to me too. We're getting the 3rd from Econ. ;)

Okay, let's not worry about Hamburg. The sheep tile is 5f, we have two spare 3f tiles available. Having Hamburg at the end is actually a feature. We could easily delay it to T122 running 7 merchants instead of 8.

But definitely put a spy in Hamburg asap and the other might as well move to the sheep. Poison water or unhappiness would be a disaster. I think the sheep tile actually protects Hamburg in this case. Let him destroy the pasture and waste his eps.
