Whoever takes over, should debate a civics change to Free Market.

Also, since we now own The Apostolic Palace, we should convert back to Islam ASAP. Thebes will generate another great person in 1t; We can use it and the Great Scientist to start a 2nd Great Age, assuming it is not another Great Scientist. We have too many TAP Christian votes, so we need to convert away from Christianity.

We will need to vassal a big AI Civ and liberate several cities back to it for the +1.5 happiness per city; With enough cities, we can get Mao back up to +8 absolute or more from -3 relative. We need to gift a city with Christianity to the remaining AIs that lack Christianity. We must have less that 75% of the vote in our own cities, or the RLDV resolution option will be available.
 
Toook a look at the save. Railroad is constructed up to Darius' border. Obviously we have to complete the rest of the stretch to the Orient. Checking our scenario goals again, the entire track must be within the cultural borders of us, our one allowed vassal, or of a civ we have a defensive pact with. That last part is interesting...maybe we could do something with that?

On religious victory...hmmmm. The screen shows 8 turns to the next vote, 4 votes before the next election. If we get someone to vote for us, they can not be our opponent. So we have to be very careful about who gets how much Christian population. This is of course in addition to getting them happy enough with us to actually vote for us.

So what are the next steps? I think we need:

- War with Darius, so we can extend the railroad through his territory and take his cities so we will control that segment of the path.
- China currently holds the Orient terminus of the railroad, so they must either become a vassal, sign a defensive pact with us, or be eliminated.
- We are on the last turn of our golden age, so if we want to convert back to Islam we must do it this turn to avoid anarchy. Islam will help us militarily since we have it in far more of our cities, particularly our unit-producing core. This may also be necessary to get us under the 75% vote threshold, as Sun Tzu Wu noted.

Anything else we need to keep in mind? Who wants to take the save next? We have just over a week before the deadline, so we need to keep pushing turns.
 
Unfortunately, we can't switch back to Islam this turn; we have to wait until next turn, which misses the Golden Age by 1t. There is an about 67% chance that the next great person is not a Great Scientist which would allow us to start a second Golden Age next turn, allowing a non-anarchy conversion to Islam.
 
We actually have several railroads branching off the main Orient Express going from Paris to Istanbul. One is going along the northern coast; Another is going through the.middle of the eastern Eutopeon and Asia continents; Both of these can be extended to the Far East. The railroad going east from Istanbul could continue east south of the mountain ranges and then northeast to Gateway to the Far East. According to the rules, any one of these three paths would be valid for The Orient Express.
 
Is the current plan to keep going for conquest but just see if we can grab religious victory on the side? One thing we have to make sure is that we don't trigger religious victory before the Orient Express is completed.
 
Did some preliminary city micro management. Focus will be on Cavs for production. I don't think it makes sense to go for religious really, as we need to conquer most of the map anyways and the war will be over soon with constant cavalry production.
 
Done for tonight, I've set the war machine rolling, and we should be in good shape for conquest. If someone has time to pick up the game tomorrow, that's fine with me, otherwise I'll be able to play more tomorrow night. Conquest is pretty straightforward and to be honest I think just finishing this game without making major mistakes should be our goal.

My current plan:

The invasion force on England finishes up, and will be used to wipe out Stalin. The rest of our forces will be split north and south of the Himalayas to take out Gandhi and Khan. Mao's forces are currently on course to wipe itself out on Gandhi's stack. We need to make sure we take out Khan within 9 turns before he gets gunpowder and potentially spreads it around. All production on Cavalry. We need to Vassalize Mao because it will take too long to invade Australia.

Tech plan: Finish Corporations in 2 turns. Single bulb Scientific method and finish it. Then Communism for Free Spy and trigger final golden age. Finished for the night. Ceased fire with Churchill after taking out the Britain. We'll be able to load our remaining cannons onto galleys next turn. Creating a small round of cannons to help with Stalin to load onto our galley stack coming back from the south, but we should be able to take out his western most city immediately after landing.

Karakorum is currently on Spy as a placeholder, but should switch to Cavs as soon as the route is cleared. Conquering should be considerably faster in the next few turns as our Cavs start meeting our main forces. I created one spy from the starving population of Lisbon - send that to Russia's last city with our stack, we should have enough EP to put it into revolt by the time it gets there.

We're at the point where we need to consider razing large cities, as the game is going to finish soon after they come out of anarchy.

Oh, I just realized I misunderstood the rules. We need to make sure we can get the culture set up as well for the Orient express.

I think this shouldn't be a big issue if we vassalize China, but we may need to create a few settlers through the Mongolian part of the track. Sometime during our last golden age when Communism finishes, we may need to switch to Caste with settlers to spot fix the railroad with artist specialists and building culture.
