[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

But GLH? We're still looking at that?

I thought the ship had sailed on the GLH (pun intended) but we keep going back and forth. I was trying to update my "City" chart last night and I couldn't remember what was decided for a Merchant (and Artist) wonder. What are our current thoughts here? Can someone summarize so I don't have to weed through 1780 posts. ;)

Maybe this would be the way to get 3 GS's (waiting til we have more size-8 cities)

If we're sticking to Slavery, we're not getting more size-8 cities, right? If we delay the first two GSs too long, we'll end up having to research a bunch of stuff by hand. How long are we thinking here?

With both gems mined T87, I was able to send 3 Workers up to Cow City and get Pyramids 2-pop whipped complete on Turn 93.
**Edit**
Pyramids can only be whipped complete T94, Sorry!

Or it naturally completed and the movie played on T97. :hmm:
Cow City reached 100:culture: around T92 or T93, so the 3rd forest chop was inside the borders and gave a nice +24:hammers:

Cow City had decent overflow Granary, almost max overflow Lighthouse, and almost max overflow Library.
Perhaps the Dun trick could be performed in Cow City instead of Library to speed up Pyramids?
It would conflict with Canal City Dun trick -> Pyramids though unless we could build wealth/research to store the overflow.

To get Great Lighthouse a bit later (Turn 97ish?), I needed to send the 4th worker over from finished gem mines T88 and the Heretic Worker from Canal City by Galley T88 to start chopping those 4 forests. :hmm:

We don't really have to do GLH in Clams.
But with 2 workers and the Dun trick, we might be able to put all our 50:hammers: overflow and 4 chops into wealth/research.
Then once we reach 170:hammers: sitting in wealth/research, we can choose to finish 30/200 Great Lighthouse in 1 turn, or just put another 170:hammers: into mids for 340:gold:
Clam City can then become our General city since we ate all the forests to make even more fail gold. :hmm:

The problem with all cities whipping at the same time is that we only have 2 stone wonders to dump hammers into so some cities will have to dump the hammers into either the next build or a dun...
No, we just whip something and remove it from the queue. Resolve it later.

Don't want MOM: to block calendar. So Parthenon.
Don't want colossus: supporting scientists instead, no room for coastal.
GHL less favorable after merc.
Build Eiffel to skip mass media?

I like the sound of that, and I was already dropping the idea of Caste T80 in spite of all the plans I made (which I'd still want to do if the Philo bulb didn't get screwed up.) Mostly I wanted borders in 2Clams, but it will have to be a missionary (or holy city)

So we can do Rep+Caste (for real, 6:science: scientists). Then, hopefully, 5 turns later, bulb Philo and take Pacifism. Then crank out 2 more GS's.

Monument is only 18:hammers: more cost than a Caste Artist working a mine instead of a specialist.
Holy City would be a 1 in 6 miracle and Missionary really needs to go to capital for +10% Monastery bonus or Sitting Bull for Friendly relations.

I think the Monument should really be considered.
It is cheap and give +1:)

Yeah, if we were to do GLH, this would be the way to do it cus we don't want to end up with 199 GLH failgold.
I still think we pass on it.

Those are good points.
Can we build Eiffel though if we don't have iron?

Hmm
Just feels so weird missing Colossus/TGL
Skipping Mass Media would save a lot of turns at the end of the game if Eiffel could be built in 1 turn.

How does an AI get -12? Hasn’t teched Sailing yet? And has four cities? And is overseas from two AIs who have +6 with him?
he amount of commerce you get from trade routes to your cities is the Imports, the total amount of commerce other nations cities get from your cities is the Exports.
The import/ export definition is counter intuitive. This -12 guy might be on a different landmass, having 4* +3routes from other AI and his trade route leads to someone who has no sailing.

Ok, Mitch, you can probably ignore almost everything I suggested.
Whales goes back to doing failgold
Silver does Whales' wb
Cows does not whip to size 2.

Canal. Ignore my suggestion to grow it to size 7.
But maybe does some more TForest to get on the failgold program. So one suggestion may have survived!

I've updated this post with our current thinking. Does it look right?

If we're going for the Parthenon, we should try to have it done by the time we run our double golden age. We'll want marble connected by then if possible, of course.

**Edit**
Fixed with more correct Pyramids estimate

I missed almost all of this new post until I happened to notice that the post was longer as I was scrolling past. Good stuff here but easy to miss. Please let us know when you update a post so we know to go back and look at it. ;)

Right. And that would be a Fort + road on marble (just 1 road total) (and we have to prevent SB from settling on it.)
Similarly, and farther down the road, Fort for Wheat too, right?
