kcd and Chris are the two most active participants. does this constitute a quorum? I will play 3 turns to Masonry / founding of city 5 in approximately 6 hours unless I get a 'red' from someone.
I think at the pace we're going, it counts.
Played 4 turns. Got Masonry, and followed the PPP with no major events. City 5 is founded with 6 turns to size two thanks to the timely work boat.
No international events.
2 Eastern work boats are headed West. One is hanging out near Cahokia to keep an eye on SB in case he starts building up an army.
Shall I proceed with Mathematics, or do we want to pause and consider?
We got 198 gold now, and -32 per turn, so plenty of runway for tech.
I prefer to play through Math.
I'm comfortable with playing through Math.
I will play through to math today.
Let's plan next move.
Bib to chop out mids. Upon building, rename city to Engineer (or something fun and clever that goes with that).
Eastern work boats migrate West, and improve fishes near the NW cities.
Tolosa to head to lighthouse -> GLH at least as fail gold.
Bib's galley will be ready soon. Would be nice to finish a warrior in Gerg, so that we can drop off a warrior on a bigger island if we find one.
Vienne finishes worker in ~6 turns. Then build a chariot.
IW would be nice - can use double gems in Vienne. Plus it is a late-game requirement in this game.
Run up to CoL via Priesthood.
Run up to CoL via Currency.
I would lean heavily toward IronWorking next. We need metal. And the gems for happiness are a big plus. I think it's worth the diversion from the CoL path.
I agree. green to math at least - no chops finished pre-math.
Acknowledged. Will play to math and post pics some time this evening after work. Unfortunately, I have a work call overseas that is 10 pm local time tonight, which is my usual Civ 4 time. Should be okay though.
I like IW next. good to keep the planning going even while waiting to play - latency on forum messages for planning seems to be our biggest problem slowing us down.
I think we should be targeting CoL with a side diversion to IW. I would be disinclined to do any other side paths on the tech tree at this point.
CoL via Priesthood or Currency? It's faster via Priesthood, and allows Oracle. But currency is always useful.
I'm tending towards Priesthood option. Do not want to miss CoL, though if we have to use a GS on philosophy, it's not an insurmountable problem.
I guess if we're taking a chance on waiting until after IW, we should probably go Priesthood. However, we could decide later...
Math is in.
No major events.
IW will take 3 turns at 100%, but we have 69 gold, and are running a - 33 deficit. So, 4 turns to IW.
Spoiler Turn set :
Here is your Session Turn Log from 1360 BC to 1200 BC:
Turn 66, 1360 BC: Camulodunum has been founded.
Turn 67, 1320 BC: You have trained a Work Boat in Gergovia. Work has now begun on a Warrior.
Turn 68, 1280 BC: You have constructed a Lighthouse in Tolosa. Work has now begun on a Library.
Turn 69, 1240 BC: Clearing a Forest will create 20 ℤ for Tolosa.
Turn 69, 1240 BC: Clearing a Forest will create 20 ℤ for Bibracte.
Turn 69, 1240 BC: You have discovered Mathematics!
Turn 70, 1200 BC: Gergovia can hurry Work Boat for 1⇴ with 15ℤ overflow and +1⇤ for 10 turns.
Turn 70, 1200 BC: Clearing a Forest has created 30 ℤ for Bibracte.
Spoiler Screens :
At 100% it'll take this many turns to finish these techs:
Priesthood - 1
Meditation - 1
Polytheism - 2
Currency - 7
CoL - 5
IW - 3
We're roughly running 2x that with all the 0% we have to do for maintenance.
Should be a little faster once Vienne starts working the gems.
Worker at Vienne moves to jungle river gems and starts road until IW done.
Bib keeps working Pyramids and chopping. Probably doing to need to do an OF whip. Hopefully we find iron, so we can 2-pop whip axes with 4 H for max-of? Or whip a lighthouse.
Explore West with 1 WB and 1 Galley with a warrior.
2nd WB from Greg will improve seafood.
Tolosa keeps alternating between whipping useful stuff (library), and OF into GLH.
Gerg - slow grow - after next WB - shift to buildings - I don't think it has a library or LH yet. LH next probably, then lib. 9 hammers at size 6 - and good food - nice place to build things. maybe a scientist city?
Camu whips monument at size-2.
3rd WB from East will improve seafood once borders pop. Should be roughly well timed.
Camu starts building LH. 3 seafood city - extra food more important to get up quick.
Bib - axes better, lighthouse ok
Gerg looks to be a good scientist city. LH first.
Everything else is good.
p.s. Gerg appears to have an unimproved crab, perhaps a WB for that?
@ChrisShaffer - agreed. I'll look at the WB's again. We have 3 more fish to improve, and Greg is building a WB (to scout), we have 3 WB's at the moment and 1 galley. 3 of the Wb's are East by SB. I think 1 WB should stay put by SB to get visuals on any possible military build-up there. Could just build another WB in Gerg. They're cheap and it has nice hammers.
Agreed on the axe - but we need metals first LH is actually pretty bad for whipping - it's 60 H, so it doesn't get you extra hammers. But the extra food is good for re-growth, and lets Bib run at size 6.
........I've got ~ 12 hours until I can play again. So feel free to discuss other options or larger strategies.
hopefully we find some iron.
I got nothing to add. Sounds good to me. But... which WW's are we planning to complete and which are just for gold?
