Notes: The IBT might have Isabella coming to us asking for Peace or she might shrug it off and bring what Cavalry(she has available since she does have the ability to make them) at us. Caravel SSW of Valencia has 3 Muskets in it for def of Valencia. There's a Caravel with 2 Settlers and Zerker on it near Haugesund which can be used to attack the 2 southern Islands of Spain if Isabella doesn't sue for peace. Didn't do any trading for Techs as those that had them I didn't want to give more money to and those that could buy some we had, didn't have any money. There are 2 more fully loaded Caravels coming up around the Celts west border, using safe spots so don't lose any troops for the war effort agains Spain. Valencia has 1 Treb, 1 or 2 Pikes and 2 Musket's for defense. NW of Murcia is a Spanish stack of 3 Musket's and 3 MI's, Isabella might send it against us or fall back into Murcia as I bled off a few defenders before I ran out of moves.

At any road if there are any 'zerks exposed to cavalry attacks get 'em back on the boats pronto.

So now maybe we change the objective and take new land from Isabella instrad of Brennus?

No, imho we should head for the Celts asap and let Spain do what they think cannot forbear/desist.
The Celts will win the Space race!!!!! And that is our problem now. Once they get to Nationalism, it will be very hard for us to prevent them from doing so, since war will become a very huge attempt with many casualties. We need to get the Celtic problem done - asap - speed is crucial. Not a nice job you have now Crakie - but hey keep your pecker up!
I second Bede's hint. Do not make too big landfall in Spain with the Zerks, Terrorist tactics is up against Cavalry! Go there, hit hard and be gone fast!

I need some advice as to what to do. I know that we are at war with Spain I do want to know what wee need to research after Navigation. Should I increse the research? I'll be playing tomorrow.
 
The window is rapidly closing when we could take on the Celts with relative impunity. WE ar going to need cannon, so research Metallurgy or extort it from Spain after she has been sufficiently humbled, like reduced to one town.

Aftet that I just don't know. If Gandhi is still stuck in the Ancient Age I see no reason at the moment to feed the research of the other guys either by buying or researching anything.
 
I'm all for trimming the herd, but we have leave a herd to trim. We took out Carthage with a minimum of fuss, and life would have been much simpler had the Mongols not attacked. We blunted Genghis' spear and were looking toward the Celts when Isabella got snippy.

We could take out any one, and possibly any two other civs (for different reasons, the easiest to take out, Ottomons and India, aren't potential targets.

IMHO, we have to decide to either spank the Spaniards as we did the Mongols, or take them out. If the first, we can concentrate on the Celts, if the latter, we're going to have to let Celts and Mongols go their merry way until the next military plateau.

A very risky strategy, again, IMHO, would be to take out Spain, Celts, and Mongols, and leave America and the Ottomons to feed India the necessary techs.

Once this current bout of martial fever runs its course, we have to turn our attention to India - getting them off that island and allowing them to expand somewhere. Again, I suspect I'm in the minority, but I want to keep the homeland - give Gandhi either the Carthage/Mongol area, or set them up on Izzy's island.
 
Turn Zero.

IBT, we lost the Berserker that destroyed Zaragoza. Also Spain moved alot of units into territory that is near ours.


Turn one. I forgot to get more research happening Before I pressed enter, d'oh. All the cities that were producing berserks were put on Knight production because we are seriously lacking in that area. We need to have fast units so that we can kill other fast units. I have increased science so that we can have navigation is 5 turns and thus making research much better for us.

Desperate for the Spanish to die, I have decided to ally ourselves the Celts so that they have two fronts to worry about. So here is a picture of their captial. It took close to one hundred Gold. I think the exact figure was 96.


As a result we are now able to make an alliance with the Celts.


I know that I gave alot for this alliance, but hopefully we will get it back in return.

So now this is what we got.


But with this there is a problem because we are basically making a deal with the devil in this game. Compare the purple square with the red square.

IBT. A bit worried before I press enter considering all the units near Valencia/Keflavik. We lost Pamplona to the spainish as it desposed us but that is no problem. We had a Cav attack us but it retreated.

Turn two. We retake Pamplona. We kill two spearmen and we now have Pamplona back again, but for how long?

Alrighty, Spain is down to one city (Madrid). Basically, I used the beserkers to take and burn Spain's coastal cities - I couldn't be bothered with the resistance. The small island cities in the southern hemisphere were no problem as well. The last but one city was taken with a stack of knights/ACs on the way to Madrid. A decent number of troops is gathered near Madrid to take Spain out of the game next turn, although I did see a settler running around somewhere.

Research was uneventful, moved along from chemistry to metallurgy (1 turn left). I fueled research a bit by trading luxes with the Ottomans, allowing for 0 lux tax.

The Americans joined the Celts in their war against Spain, but I haven't seen much action from both of them. Surprisingly, the Ottomans declared on the Celts though! Let's pray they won't be taken out of the game. A couple of Celt cavs landed on our shores, but fortunately I gambled right and saw them leave for Ottoman lands.

Still no sign of India producing galleys.

Next turnplayer should make peace with Spain to get some techs (NEXT turn, when metallurgy is in!), then take her out. A couple of settlers are already heading for Spanish lands, more have marching orders to "Carthage meat #3" from where they can be shipped.

I think we should go for arties now and deal with the Celts. I suggest we improve the lands in corrupt areas to get scientists.

I shudder at the prospect that Madviking is going to pass the game on to me in the middle of the Viking-Celt war (and believe me, it should make you guys shudder, too). However, I agree that it is the course to take. Help our good friend Osman to fight off the evil Celts. Perhaps even get Genghis to help.

Meanwhile, once Madrid is taken, I suggest we prepare to cede the Spanish island to the Indians, but ONLY the Indians. How we're gonna get them to the island is another matter, but as I suggested earlier, the moment Gandhi learns how to build Galleys, evacuate Rusicade and give them access to "the outside world" that way.
