SGOTM6 - Team Smackster

Well, it shouldn't be difficult, just boring... Rushing culture and making the odd attack.

and "boring" is the key word :)

The marathon was over at 3:00 AM EST sunday, april 10th.

It took 17 more turns to achieve 100K victory. At the end we made more than 2000cpt.

Our Firaxis score: 10521 and Jason score: 8777
It was long and exhausting and we didn't do well in comparison with top teams, but oh well... it was a different experience.

and here is the turn log:

pre-turn: i wonder how many hours i will spend before hitting the next turn...
I remember Gozpel and G-man always used to argue who is the sloppier when it comes to passing game to the next player :-)
rushed bunch libraries and cathedrals. Captured Ashur. I quit all warmongering here. The rest of the turns were simply going trough the cities and rushing rushing rushing. I will only list overal culture next to each turn passed

some statistics...

Thank you Dman, you are my hero! Thank god this game is over. No shadow should fall on Mad-Bax, but I hope I never see another game like this again...

nice finish dman. thanks for closing it out. and thanks for poking me in the ribs but i think i handed it off as best as i possibly could (and remember, i stated that i didn't move or rush anything, too dam late) :)

And I left it for Grahamiam with not a single thing done in my last turn either. So he actually played a full set of 10 turns. While I did not :(

any plans to play together next time???

It looks like Team Smackster ceased to exist in it original form but it will be my honor to play with both of you guys again together next time around.
But if we decide to go separate ways i won't hold no hard feelings.

Why not. Though I have no idea when Smackster will be back online. He said he would have a difficult period up ahead just before he went AWOL in march.

:D

Every game will be different I hope. Some people like building and MM'ing. :p

Each to their own I guess.

It's an AWD as the Ottomans on a small map next - so should be somewhat different.

I enjoyed this game for the most part. There were some tedious stretches, but even towards the end there is always the goal of knocking one more turn off. And the rampant whipping was also kind of fun. Nice job team smackster-less.

small map would be good. if it was semi-large or even standard, i was going to pass. i'll keep going with the 2 of you :)

@bedhead: I think there's something wrong with you if you thought that last bit was fun

Can you imagine if we only built ToA one turn earlier....
We would fare way better in this game.
As it turned out in the end we didn't need none of the IA techs to win and having ToA we wouldn't need to research education at all. Oh, well....
It is not the end of the world. :)

Well, I can always find ways to make it more fun. If you check out my last turnset, you can kind of see how (though I did cause some confusion on my team member's parts by keeping it interesting for me).

My least favorite part was generally the first turn lasting 1.5-2 hours, with getting the game all set up the way I like. We had some newbies, so at points our game was semi-training in nature. Anyway, after the first turn, my turns didn't take all that long. Probably 15-20 minutes, and generally it was semi engrossing matters like rolling over opponents who had only spearmen against cavalry armies.
