SGOTM8 - Bede

Taking Beijing will be quite an accomplishment. The Great Library will be a great bonus. The trick will be holding the city. China's culture is pretty high. Beijing has 3 wonders in it now. Plus we can't wipe out China as they have a number of cities off the mainland now. So, do we try and hold it? Or raze it after a little tech catch up via the GL? We are going to need more archers and horses (once we take Shanghai ;) ) to even think about holding cities while continuing the attacks.

Okay Residue. I hope everything's okay.

Juballs... you're up.

BTW, as per my signature, I'm out of town until the 3rd. Hopefully the Chinese will be only an overseas trading partner by then.

Halfway through and need a conference with the team.

Here's the situation (save is attached)

Maui is finally set to for resettlement with a settler waiting and another to come behind. I need some thoughts on where to put these guys. I know there was discussion of a town in the middle of the peninsula above the mountains but have lost track of where, other than 1NW for New Maui.

Is this what we had in mind?

150AD_01.jpg

Also the diplomatic situation is getting troublesome as I smell a dogpile coming

Rome will talk but wants cash.

What now?

Make peace with China after taking down Hangchow?, or keep on keeping on?

And try to survive the inevitable wars or end the wars with China and Rome and hope Greece goes away quietly?

China has a second source of horses at Canton BTW...

here is what i think.... take hangchow and sign peace with china.

attack delphi with our stack, and defend defend defend

90AD

Begin the assault at Shanghai and the first shot destroys the Chinese Forbidden Palace. But that is it for the cats as the 13 others all miss.

Lose a vet archer, and an elite archer, but that is it for the unwounded defenders....lose two more vets and an elite but then the city is burned to ground.

Found Chatham in the jungle just as Chinese settler pair appears to reclaim the rubble at Shanghai. The Chinese borders exapnd to pick up the horses, again. Kill one loose Chinese and retreat the other and pillage the roads out of Hangchow. Then kill the spear with the settler and collect two more Chinese slaves.

150AD

Shift troops into position at Hangchow and resist the temptation to chase strays at Chatham.

Have to wait for the Chinese to clear the road and St Louis is not built until 230.

And the Greeks land a mace at Resiopolis, defended by a warrior and two spears.

And in 230 wipe out the barbarian camp in the Divide and park a spear on the mountain to keep them from coming back.

Open an embassy with China

230AD.jpg

The Greek mace attacks Resiopolis and kills a spear. And another Greek mace comes out of Delphi.

In 250 Maui comes up for abandonment so the city is now rubbled. And there is a settler building at Washington to replace it 1NW of the rubble. Try to knock the crippled mace off his perch with a warrior and fail.

There is a road through the jungle into Delphi and cats and archers are building up in Westchesterton.

Hey team,

well, i've been reading up on the action and it looks like the excrement is hitting the air circulation unit.

And God, what a deal for peace with the Chinese!!! lol

I see we have one settler building. We should have about three in queue, possibly even rushing one. That unclaimed area will get filled in by someone in no time.

great work bede, i like what we have done so far, we should take delphi from the greeks asap and then settle in and prepare on the assault on china again.

im hoping neither china nor greece builds the knights templar, if they do we need that city destroyed

Thanks gents.

Delphi will have pikes in defense, so be warned.

azzaman - up and carry it to Greece, or at least Delphi.
SpikeIt - went to war and just may get to finish this round
residuetiger
juballs2001
Bede - stung the Chinese, now what about the Greeks?
Ghostwind - autoskip till heard from

Ok guys, since we're in the middle of war now, I wanted to ask for your tactics in actually taking the fight to the enemy. Now I know about the Stack of Death and all, but I guess I'm interested in exactly how more experienced folks handle the mechanics and all.

Do you just stack up some cats and archers, with maybe some spearmen for defence and have at em? In my own games, although I have yet to try it, I have thought of having separate stacks of say, horsemen, then cats with some spears or archers, and attacking in waves with the cats first, archers, then finishing with horsemen perhaps.

Anyway, since I'm probably the most inexperienced player here, I thought it would be a good time to get some education in the ways of war.

thanks
