SGOTM8 - Bede

We probably should be building more factories and power plants at this point as well - or prebuilds for stock exchanges. Eventually we will be gearing up for the offensive with our copters and such. We'll probably want to upgrade some existing troops and upgrade cannons as well, so the extra money would be nice.

k guys... i believe im up, i will get the save, analyze and work on it tommorow

#0 1500 AD Rome wants peace and we get 6 GPT

Got it. Play it tomorrow.

The Save

Just tending to business, moving citizens from tax to science and back again, trimming terrain and building some factories and hospitals.

Once Refining comes in and we know where the oil is we can shut off research, build the Intelligence Agency and start theiving technology with spies. The tech pace is terrible, mostly because of the world war we kicked off, and nobody has any money, so even though we can out research two thirds of the nations out there it doesn't offer much of a payoff. We should be able to steal everything up to Advanced Flight which we will have to self-research I think.

I haven't seen any oil burining ships out there, nor have I seen any airplanes.

SpikeIt - you are in the driver's seat
residuetiger - riding shotgun
juballs2001 - built the ToE :goodjob:
Bede - tended the children

Things are looking good. We might try merging some workers into the science farms, then build aqueducts in the pop 6 towns that need them. That way we can double up on our scientist or taxman workforce.

M60 has graciously offered to step off the curb and play the end game with us.

:salute:

Hopefully I can provide some small measure of assistance, pending Alan's approval. :D

You're on the team :)

Wow! There's been some great progress this the last few rounds! TOE! Woohoo! Nice job guys. Well, I guess I'm up. Okay. Got it. I should be able to get this underway today.

Also, welcome to the team M60! Its good to see our unofficial member joining us in some offiicial capacity. You've basically been on the team since the beginning anyhow.

And Azzaman too? Wow, we're going to have some busy turnsets again. I'll leave it to Bede to straighten out the roster.

[0] 1600AD
Refining is due in 4. Rome is running away a bit. Japs are 2CC.
We are railroaded everywhere. Its time to think about merging workers.
A few civil engineers cuts our 'duct work.

IBT
Rome comes to renew peace deal (we were getting 6gpt). Since it doesn't really impact our plans either way, I decide to renew for now. We could always break it. We won't need to deal with him at this point. At least we won't have to deal with ironclad bombardment for now.
Trenton hospital starts on stock exchange.

[1] 1605AD
Our defense could use some upgrades. I upgrade a couple muskets. Refining and oil due in 3.
Rome and England both have Steel AND Refining.

[2] 1610AD
Another SE is started.

IBT
Ragnar doesn't like paying to the man, either. I don't see a reason to keep the peace with Ragnar. I like getting money from him. We'll say no way and renegotiate in a few.

The Vikings pull a boat up next to empty Palo Alto.
Pollution strikes Newark, but it builds its hospital and starts on Intelligence Agency, due in 10.

[3] 1615AD
Viking boat is redlined, pollution is cleared, Newark set to grow again.
I have fun bombarding some Viking coast.

IBT
Viking boat heads home with tail between its legs.
Refining comes in. Steel is due in 8, so rather than turn off scientist so we can buy it, I'll research since IA isn't due for 9.

[4] 1620ADC
We could trade for steel from Rome, but I see no reason to send more gold his way. Steel is due in 6 at -22gpt.

IBT
Rome and China sign peace.
PAK_1625RomeChinaPeace.jpg

We spot Roman transports and destroyer. They have combustion. Where do they get these wonderful toys?

[6] 1630AD
Did I fail to mention we have oil at Chinese Choker?
PAK_1630Oil.jpg

We redline another Viking Frigate.

IBT
Vikings head home again, still landing nothing.
St. Louis starts the heroic epic.

[7] 1635AD
Hoover Dam in one. Since its due in one, Hoover is a slam dunk. I'll trade Electronics to England this turn for as much as we can get.
PAK_1635Electronics.jpg

IBT
And then...
PAK_1635Hoovers.jpg

We can build Battlefield Medicine... Maybe we should?
Pollution in Trenton, unfortunately its overseas. Maybe the Vikings will clean it for us!

[8] 1640AD
Nada

[9] 1645AD
England lacks oil, btw.

IBT
Oh, oh! I guess no more trading with Greece!
PAK_1645Embargo.jpg

Rome and Greece sign peace.
Steel comes in, set to combustion, but we'll be stealing from now on, right?

We lose our spices. I missed where we were getting them from, but only Rome has them available. Only Rome has combustion. We might have had Chinese spices, which are now Roman. I'd rather not deal with Rome, as we have 10 turns on peace to squeeze them. Plus we'll be stealing from them soon.

[10] 1650AD
Hmmm. I'd like to renegotitate incense from England, but we can't buy because its tied to peace. Liz will definitely cut off incense in the IBT since its basically cost free. I renegotiate getting incense for dyes and wines, plus continued peace.

Oh cool, the 15gpt deal still stands, I thought it would break at renegotiation time.

Upping lux rate to keep people happy will cost us 108gpt! We'll use clowns to keep impact small and keep money pouring in. Hmm, upping lux is unavoidable I fear to keep cities growing. I get away with lux rate at 10% and a few clowns and extra specialists. We'll have to watch this turn by turn.

We may want to deal with the devil (Rome) for incense or start building some happiness buildings to keep our large cities content and not so luxury dependant.

Only active deal besides with England is 10 turns of peace with Rome. Ragnar still won't take peace.
We're pulling 364gpt right now. Intelligence Agency is due in 1.

Oh right. The save: Steal baby, steal!

Let's see if I can revise the roster to everybody's satisfaction

M60 - ready for a set of theft, extortion and Viking plinking
azzaman - welcome back
residuetiger - still riding shotgun
juballs2001 - built the ToE
Bede - tended the children
SpikeIt - drove it home

Well after I looked over our situation, one thing made me nervous. If we fail to successfully steal from Rome, it will put our tech situation that much more in the red. I agree that stealing is the way to go in the modern age and maybe for the last couple techs of the IA, but at this point we have a powerful pool of specialists that can get us to flight quick enough without risk or putting us at a cash deficit. Flight is the key tech here, as we are going to need a lot of airplanes before this is over in order to set the stage for our airmobile assaults.

So, I decide to put aside the Grand Theft Rome plan for the time being.

Pre-turn- Change taxmen to scientists and go for combustion in 9. Washington from Hospital to Military Academy which is actually a pre-build for Wall Street.

IBT- Japan and China sign peace. Intel Agency comes in.

Turn 1- Disband a couple artillery and a cannon in Cape May to bring in Stock Exchange in 3.

IBT- Rome finishes off Japan.

Turn 2- Quiet. Shell a Viking cav.

IBT- England tries to extort gems. I advise Liz to stuff it. :p War is now upon us.

Turn 3- Renegotiate the peace with Alex. Pick up Communism, 33 gold and 3 gpt for industrialization. May come in handy some day.

IBT- Quiet. Two stock exchanges come in, switch Washington to Wall Street due in 1.

Turn 4- A little terrain enhancement pushes Resiopolis to 46 spt, for an infantry in 2.

IBT- Wall Street in. A couple aqueducts also.

Turn 5- Try to plant a spy with the English for 98 gold and fail. Merge more workers into the farms. Now at 130 gpt.

IBT- Rome and England sign peace.

Turns 6-8 Merge a few more workers. We get a couple English MoW on a bombard mission. Combustion now in 1. GPT at 144.

IBT- Combustion in. Start on flight. Rome has flight and mass production. Spot a Roman destroyer by Oslo.

Turn 9- Quiet

IBT- Rome takes Molde from Vikings. More English MoW shelling.

Turn 10- Clean up a spot of pollution. An English task force near Midtown consists of 3 MoW and a galleon. Redline 3 of 4 with artillery and shoot up another MoW by sacrifice. Trade Alex Sci Method for TM, 161 gold, and 15 gpt. Flight in 7.

An aqueduct will be built by Pittsburgh next turn. You can turn the engineers into more taxmen at that point. Vikes will negotiate, but all they have is 16 gold.

Hey guys,

Just checking in, looks like the action is picking up!! Welcome back Az, and M60 I'm glad to see you've finally decided to make yourself useful. :P
