SGOTM8 - Cutlery

preturn - pop in the new Boards Of Canada album. plan on cutting rome's silks bypassing Neapolis then head back north.

press Enter.
IBT- lose 1 MA, kill a roman tank.
Space Flight > Satellites in 16.

1- Build MA's everywhere available. Pearlton starts on a TACTICAL NUKE (in 8). hire some beakers instead of helmets for those one turn builds.
Rome - bomb Viroconium down to a size 4 town, it has about 4 defenders. run a few MA's, will get there next turn.
England drops a settler on that small island we have.

ibt- rome moves a ministack in. japs steal a spot i wanted and lizzie keeps parading her boats.

2- more MA's built. more infra using helmets.
Rome - get Viroconium (had 3 defenders, no loss), move on south, start knocking on Neapolis. kill puny counterstrike.
spot a Zerk attacking that roman town? VS a TOW?
cant make either lizzie nor toku declare.

ibt- nada

3- more MA's, some happy builds are up as were now closer to 37% WW.
take that roamn japanese NAGASAKI and indeed a couple of Zerks were attacking a solitary TOW.
decide, after redlining every roman defender in Neapolis to push this turn, almost take it, but run out of F15s to kill units with.
next turn.

ibt- wondered why something was weird. find out the album ended quite a while back. tis' Mingus time,
kill a roman offensive, on defence. just a few bruises.

4- more happy builds, more MA airlifts.
bomb, and take Neapolis too. reminder bomb other roman towns.
have 12 MA's ready for the next roman town.

ibt- Oilando was MARINED. it holds. will get some bigger guns there.

5- Viroconium just flipped. Razing all the way from now on.
retake and raze. get a leader. (Roman Candle) which should promptly become yet another army.
abandon Neapolis (which was on rubber)

some pics of the roman rubble.

That looks nice enough for me to take ;)

Pre-Turn: a bunch of forgotten (and very forgived) airlifts

T1.
Form the army of 4 MA, march it onto roman land

T3.
Raze Veii for the cultural pressure
Hire a f**kload of specialists and happy gas grenadiers at turn start, silks and woll are founded after.

T4.
GA ends and we've got a good lot of towns, at 60, 40 and 30 shields a turn. Minimal losses.
WW falls by a lot after rome is captured

T5.
Or is it T5 ? Been playing 3 hours ...
3 towns left to the glory of the roman empire.

Intel in Japan is not grim but you know, one could hope a bit better.
They get their oil from a place in southern scandinavia (Stavanger), which I'd use as a war trigger: bombard it until the harbor busts.

We've got 2 armies running, both 17HP machines of total destruction. Both are healing, sorry if I space-barred one. Bombers will make a very short case of the romans, I give them one more turn. After that it's Japan time.

I tried doing a good micro job, since we've all been lazy on that lately, and cut satellites by 3 turns, also decreasing our deficit.

There is a tactical nuke in Helo 4 (Chinese coast) which I'd keep for england.

The Save

I won't post a roster because it seems to work alright without; note that we're ok with capturing roman and viking towns, but it won't be nearly as nice when it'll come to england and japs. Them bastards have a 100k going or something.

indeed.
notice that flip i had, diverting a WHOLE MA unit to deal with it.
i say, raze now, kill everything else later.

We have to start razing soon anyway, to avoid domination. A couple of points from my turns I forgot to mention:

- I razed Leo's Workshop :D I mean, not like we'll be upgrading anything ever again.
- The Romans used propoganda against Not Athens!

<<<The Save>>>

T0: 1768
Tactical nuke moved to the English continent.
Crap, England is filling in the areas we razed.

IBT: Nothing.

T1: 1770
Another GL. Another MA army.
Pompeii captured.
Hispalis Captured
Can’t reach the last Roman city through the tundra pine forests.
Moved some MA’s to the Scandihoovian continent to go after the Japanese in a few turns.

IBT: Our people want to build Battlefield Medicine.

T2: 1772
Our new MA army kills off an infantry shading itself under a radar tower and then kills the two defenders in the last Roman city.
Romans are gone.
I notice we have spies in the remaining three civilizations.
Entertainment down to zero.

IBT: English boarders are expanding. Blah!
Many WLTP days.

T3: 1774
Satellites in one.
Kill some barbs. We need outposts.
England has 45 TOW. Now I have a good idea where to insert the nuke.

IBT: Satellites are in. How about Nuclear Power?

T4: 1776
Our peace treaties have lapsed w/ the Japanese and the English.
DOW on the Japanese.
We take Japanese Reykjavik.
We bomb the snot out of Osaka but its population is only reduced to 17. We blitz the city and take it anyway. Muhahahahaha!
Japan has 9 fighters so I expect to lose a few bombers.
We park 3 MA armies outside of Nagoya. Each has movement but let’s bomb first.

IBT: Japan loses 5 tanks in the counter.

T5: 1778
Five elite kills.
We Take Toyama.
Our bomber shot down an interceptor!
We Take Nagoya.

There are MA’s, a MA army and other items with movement. I’m not sure about holding Nagoya as a forward position or just sacking it now. Therefore, I’ll end my turns here.

To Eldar’s points
There are still a few vet tanks to be upgraded and we hold ~45% of the territory.
Also, the Romans will have to use propaganda from the world beyond.

Good night.

i think we have footholds and airstrips on all landmasses, right?
i dont think we need to keep anything anymore.

we can keep a few dated tanks (which we wont be upgrading now ;)) for forward new city destroyers.

we can keep viking stuff but the rest is too kulkshered. GJ, nice piloting. I wonder how a bomber can take out a fighter ...
"objective reached, preparing to drop bombs"
"...r..gr... 2/.."
"Commander, one of the bombs hit a fighter plane, suggest we rejoice"
"..ck..le..g.."

Got it for another round of rounds

2.75 turns played, japan has 3 to go plus one pesky island; I'm about to declare on the vikings and was wondering if the idea of keeping lizzie for later was good: focus of all our troops vs leaving her more time to build up. If we declare on the vikings now we could take 'em in a handful of turns, perhaps less.

another few turns wont help lizzie that much. IMHO.
i say keep the pressure one sided as much as possible.

we will gain more by not having a 2 front war.
and lizzie can already carry quite a big punch....

I've been wondering that for a while. Even on my turns, we had a lot of bored troops sitting around and twiddling their thumbs on the English continent. It seems to me that they could have been doing something more productive (like burning England to the ground). I think we can probably handle Ragnar and Lizzie at the same time.

I wonder how a bomber can take out a fighter ...
Bombers tend to have gun turrets, for precisely this reason. And destroying fighters on the ground is a legitimate option, if you can catch them by surprise (though SW did say specifically "shot down").

Why not? Tanks->MA is pretty cheap, even without Leo's. And the extra movement is handy, if nothing else.

lil' update: lizzie is all that's left.

My loins burn for Lizzy.

Kill Ragnar to eliminate my competition.

Then we can make Lizzy the sole focus of my "affection". Or would that be "infection"?

Pass me another beer barkeep!

That's a helluva "lil update"!

You slipped that one in there while I was pining for Lizzy.

Pre-Turn: Stavanger is history, no more oil for japan.

IT:

T1.
Edo and Kyoto razed, get a MGL whom will be heliported to england
Found Airbase Iota for the named implications, so that it's within operational range and out of major culture pressure
Abandon nagoya, raze a warrior barb camp with modern armors for 25g.

IT: Osaka flips

T2.
Raze Osaka
Ivory colony is up
shoot down 2 fighters, get 2 shot

Declare on the vikings, take trondheim, MGL, form an army

IT: Reyjavik flips to ... japan ...

T3.
Raze a few, all goes well

IT: WW is back :(

T4.
Japan is OCC, all is almost set to attack england.

T5.
Vikings are relieved of their duties

Steal elizabeth's troop plans immediately. That might be helpful.
Take Portsmouth, raze Oxford, capture Berwick, capture Ipswitch, nuke York, nuke Odense
Found WashingDishes, bad RNG taking Warwick.

T6.
Take Nottingham, destroy radar towers, finish emptying every continent of their troops, prepare for the next player.

NE of Pompeii there is a worker that's ready to build an airfield; do so to cut lizzie's oil. We're missing war settlers so I've changed a lot of corrupt towns to that. HF!

The Save

I nuked both places the hogged the bombers, she's only got one left and it hasn't had exercise in a lot of time. Bombers and F-15's need to be moved but I founded both of our war settlers to the south  so next turn you'll have to go for London and that other one north.

I got it. save up momentarily.

1796-raze portsmouth
1798-nuke london, raze london, raze leeds
1800-raze york
1802-raze hastings, brighton, nuke coventry
1804IT-berwick deposes
1806-raze berwick, nuke reading
1808-take reading

I left the coup de grace for someone who can tidy things up a bit and do picture. Game will end in 1810. I think. 2 nukes avialable that next play won't have to use.

I tidied up... stay tuned for the final turnlog
