SHAKA's FIST

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I tend to read this website at work. While I have no personal objection to it, there is some nudity on Zachriel's storyline here. If you find this objectionable please beware. Be EXTRA careful if you read this stuff at work (some people at my job would object to even "culturally acceptable toplessness" that some african women practice).

Zachriel I don't wish you to compromise your artistic integrity but if you do this again could you place a warning somewhere, like in the post here? I'd really appreciate it!

Otherwise, as usual, absolutely superb! :)

Or another option would be to provide nudity in ALL of your posts, preferrably of asian women [dance] . . . even if you're not playing an asian Civ. ;-)

We'll take that under consideration. Aztecs, feathers. Might be interesting. There was also a nude in Queen of Thebes.

Clicking here indicates that it is legal in your jurisdiction to look at artist depictions of naked, seductively posed, dead Queens. ;)

Note: The aforementioned female images in Shaka's Fist were used as traditional African fertility symbols during peaceful and prosperous periods of Shaka's History.

My compliments on the work. An epic tome to be sure. Just one thing, though - what misfortune of youth drove poor shaka to conquer the world?

Ah, the classic - "Because I can". Simple but effective.

I though it would be for years of humiliation and slavery as a prisoner of tribal warfare. Gandih and Mao have more humorous answers.

Too bad there is not more cultural differences a la SMAC. History is certainly rich enough and it would give the choice of tribe more significance.

During the survey interview when asked "Why we fight?" Shaka laughed and answered, "Because we can." But I'm not really sure if he was kidding or not.

I had a chance to re-interview Shaka (as you know his term of office lasts until 2050 AD, so he is hard to contact). He tersely said to pay close attention to his words. "Why war? Because WE can." Then he added quietly, "Because other nations make war, then Shaka must make war too, but Vita si uji." *

After a short pause, he said, "Skill in war can reduce the destruction." Shaka's Fist. He continued more impassioned, "Some national leaders, just to further their own ambition, will starve civilians, keep slaves with no hope of eventual citizenship, even raze entire cities."

Then he quoted a poet of some arcane tribe from the far distant Isle of Britain,
"' 'tis expressly
against the law of arms: 'tis as arrant a piece of
knavery, mark you now, as can be offer't; in your
conscience, now, is it not?
'" **

Shaka Said, "I pointed out to you the stars and all you saw was the tip of my finger."

Then, he abruptly ended the interview.

I don't know how I could have missed this West African Proverb, "Speak softly and carry a big stick. You will go far." This proverb was brought to America by none other than U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt. Check the link for the very interesting documentation.

(Edit. Learned it on American Experience on PBS. Then did a little research to substantiate what I had heard.)
