Ship of the Line

Very good Colonel Kraken. The only flaw (not even a flaw), which is very hard to spot, is in the death animation, the ship seems to drop a few pixels from all the other animations. But this is very hard to spot and you probably wouldn't spot it in game. Other than this, It is one of the best copy and past works i've seen.

Thank you, Civanator. You're exactly right, but I'm not sure why that happens. I use Civ3 original units. Well, Kryten had this to say about it:

As for Colonel Kraken's death animation pixel shift....
....I think that this is due to the original Civ3 animation being 'off-set' (have a look at the Paratrooper default for an EXTREME example).

As a cure, you could pass the animation through Steph's wonderful SBB utility, by using the 'alone' formation.
That will allow you to align it correctly.
:)

If I have the time and expertise (I still don't get how to use Steph's SBB very well), I may attempt to shift the death animation for this and the Galleass.

Cheers,

That is Beautiful Man....I think I must use it...

Wargalley > Galleass > Corvette > Frigate > Ship of the Line

Note: Galleons were NOT simply transports but precursors to what we're calling "Ships Of The Line". The reason Galleons were much wider at the water line than deck was to better absorb the recoil from cannons.

Galleons and Galleases were contemporaries, the latter a Galleon/Galley hybrid best suited for the Mediterranean (Imperial Spain was essentially forced to maintain separate Atlantic and Med navies, although IIRC Galleases were also part of the Armada).

So IMHO:

Wargalley > (dromon or some other intermediate form) > Galleas

Cog et. al. > Caravel > Galleon > SOL & Frigate

-- Yep, two different evolutionary lines; let them meet by allowing Galleases to upgrade to SOL just like Galleons.

Is this going too far in resurrecting a thread? If not, I do have a few comments on it.
