I just declared on Zulu, took his capital and razed one, right after Catherine settled a city where Zulus old one was with 2 gold mines in the fat cross so I captured it.

I'm marching on Moscow about to take it but there is one problem.. It's a holy city, I didn't notice till I got there.. So the question is?

Do I Raze it?

EDIT: the SS is fuzzy, I actually have 81 gold, -9 a turn. If I take it my economy will crash hard, but it's a holy city so I'm confused.

I rushed with Phalanx, I was gonna capture Ulundi then declare on Russia then Japan, it looks like I'd be all alone after that :king: I'm starting to think I should of just razed Ulundi and Novgorad or whatever heh.. They are pretty far, but I figured I'd be alone to rebuild and there are gold mines in Ulundi and Navgorad I just gotta get them online.

How big is Judaism? You could save and take it and compare it to your current economy (after you let it come out of anarchy, of course), but if Judaism is a minor religion, raze it. If its a worldwide religion, I would keep it, it could really give your economy a kick after coming out of anarchy.

It just started so, it's just Moscow and her other city I captured. Tokugawa is christian although he didn't found it, I dont believe. (Spread over the coast)

However, I didn't found a religion since I'm alexander, it's just so tempting to have a holy city for later, but when I take it my research slider is going to drop to nothing. I'm about to start work on a Library in Athens and run two science specialist which I was hoping would help keep my research afloat?

Yay or Nay? :worship: It'll give me a +6 :science: I was going to try and do the same thing where the gold mines/flood plains are untill I get things rolling so that would up it to +12 :science: would that be enough to keep me teching while I develop my economy via gold mines/cottages? Once I pop a GPriest I should be able to recover fully if I spread it a bit, maybe leave tokugawa alive and convert him?

I kept it, although it dropped my science to about 60%. I popped a GS and started running specialists to try and keep my research up and it's doin alright.

Razed Catherines last two cities to keep my gold up until I figure somethin else out but noticed I already have a -2 with Tokugawa an I need time to rebuild my army and def need to phase into building my infastructure up.

So it looks like he may be getting a pass for now, although he is annoyed and I'm very sensitive

Don't worry about the %, it doesn't matter. What is important is the number of beakers you're generating. So if you have a save just the turn before taking the city, and one after, check how many you are producing then. But do not forget to consider how much you'll bring in once the capital is developped. As has been said, capitals are usually great cities.

You guys think I should go for priesthood and try to pop a priest now?

I actually popped a GS on accident I started to run scientists in Athens and wasn't thinking about grabbing a priest early since it's gonna be harder to run priests then it is scientists.

Now the turns are gonna be doubled for it :( Dang, Philosophical..

I'd like to get a Shrine up as soon as possible.

There are a few players out there who claim growing a priest just to create a shrine is almost never worth it.

I say keep it. It's a holy city. You can eventually get a priest and build the shrine. In that time you spread it aggressively. There's a lot of forest, so you can chop the improvements you will need (like a courthouse). Your Science will slow down, it will pick back up when you cottage spam the city.

Keep Moscow and make it your National Park city. ;)

Hey, it's never too early to think ahead...
