Should the COLOSSEUM forums be merged?

+1 JR, pretty sure that far more wanted the tavern/chamber split to remain, than those wanting some of the smallest subforums staying on their own. The former were also a minority, but the latter are even a smaller one by all means.

Were there not enough members who liked the Tavern/Chamber split for inertia too win?
I do not know, I did not follow that issue (or other previous OT issues) much. It was before they succeeded in drafting me to be an admin after 7 years of trying. For several years previously, my non Humor and Jokes activities were mainly in SCOTCFF appeals, a selection of issues that the admins asked me to consult upon, improving liaison between moderators and admins, and recounting older CFC tradition and mythology to the staff and membership.

We have now sorted the last bit of policy pertinent to this thread:

The previous policy of moving threads started in the OT, which were more pertinent to one of the other Colosseum fora, to such other fora is now ended. Henceforth, absent special circumstances, such threads will be left undisturbed in the OT, so that the thread author may have the the wider audience if he wants it.

That's a good change, it should make everybody happy- the people who want more discussion can be in OT, the people who want their own subforum can have their own subforum.

Sounds like a mess waiting to happen. Does this mean that any and all sports, history, science, arts, computer, and "humor" stuff that anyone wants to post in OT will be automatically allowed?

I think it's a brilliant idea. It'll illustrate which subforums are used because people want to use them, rather than because they have to, and as a consequence will give cold hard data for the administration on whether to continue the existence of the various subforums.

I'm not the only one who has this concern.

You're not alone, CivG.

Hooray!

So this has clearly been a mistake. Any chance at rolling back this policy?
