Shall we build up this city next turnchat:

waiting_settler.JPG

The settler is already sitting idle in Equus Aurum, and the city can be built next turnchat. It has not been proved that a new city build will hurt our economy, but the idle settler cost us a gold per turn in upkeep, for no reason.

Options are:

Build the city this turnchat
Not build the city this turnchat
Abstain

I disagree, this city is a premium city as well, with sugar, horses and beef. It will be a premium production, commercial and science site, as well as our port in colonizing eastwards. Notice, we have no Eastern ports yet.

We also need to close down most coastal tiles, so we are not seeing colonies from overseas on our premium spots. See this as a land investment.

There is no proof our economy will be hurt, in particular as we are to change civics very soon.

Changing civics won't affect our ability to support the city maintenance for more cities. The only thing within our power which would help with city maintenance would be to adopt slavery and :whipped: some courthouses.

Why this insistence to conquer more cities, if our economy is hanging in the ropes. We need more consistency of thought, no more crazy shayt
If we cannot settle new premium cities like this, what do we do up in Germany, if we cannot handle more cities. And what about the move into a set of peacetime civics, and a call for all-out war? We need to make some sense out of this.

Go figure why no one voted for slavery, serfdom and organized religion.
Some people got no consistency of thought, that is evident.
Logrushing (serfdom) or organized religion (25 % building bonus).

While the choice was made to fight Germany that does not imply that people want unbridled expansion of the empire. It is not inconsistent to say conquer these cities, but don't found these, because it's not simply a question of are new cities good, but a question of are these new cities good, and also how many new cities are good.

In taking Germany we are going to grab Berlin which is an amazing city, its location is better than both of the current proposed sites, it has a large population already, rather than starting from one, and it has a wonder which will allow a useful change in civics.

I am talking about the war all the way to the north cape here.

There are similar benefits to other German cities as well, I don't see the promise in all of them, but that is reflected in my vote in the objectives poll :)

You will not hear a word from me on this Eastern City, but I will be very entertaining the day some overseas empire colonize the spot... :)

It is a good place for a city.
Is the city connect to us and get we enough gold with commerce? I don't know.

We're not fighting dates, or ourselves here, we're fighting against the AI. Taking German cities is very effective in fighting the AI as we get cities while they lose cities. The most important reason for taking these German cities now is denying them to the Germans.
