Do you think that Sid Meier, the creator of civilization, could beat a game on Sid??? i dont think so. just because he's the creator doesnt mean he's good...

I Agree.

I suppose he is a very experienced player, and any experienced gamer can win a game at Sid difficulty after some trys, and by tweaking the game in their advantage. With Byzantines on Archipelago against expansionist ennemies for example...

Well, even though he didn't program it, he was still close. Many players know most of the mechanics, why shouldn he?

I don't think he would win on his first try. Just because you made the game doesn't mean you know every trick. In fact, since he made the game, he is more likely to play the game the way it was made to be played - not optimally.

He's too busy chillin' at his mansion to waste time with tile micromanagement. So, no.

Leave the "work" to the playtesters.

He should be intelligent, he gave lots of discouraged poeple some thing to do...
Seriously... NOOOO!!!

I vote yes. He made the thing, so he would know most of the exploits, mechanics, and stuff to it.

No, he didn't really make it. He was working on other games at the time. He does have the source code though, so he can know what is going on under the hood. I'd say, yes.

Exploits!? I bet he dogpiles workers and changes production to gold on the IT!
