Somewhere on the forum there is a poll about whether or not Sid has "sold out" with Civ 3.
What the hell are you talking about? Sold out what?
Sid makes computer games. He makes computers games and sells them. Sid does this, presumably, cause he prefers it to making a living emptying garbage cans, milking cows, or crashing planes into skyscrapers. He doesn't do it because he wants to make your life beautiful and happy.
Don't like one or all of his computer games? Don't buy it.
Sid doesn't "owe" anyone anything. He has nothing to "sell out".
The person who posted the poll was saying that he didn't like the new combat system and the lack of terra forming. This is a perfectly good opinion and some people agree. But what on earth does this have to do with Sid "selling out"?
If Civ III was sponsored by Pepsi, and half the wonders were called things like "The Pepsi Pyramids" or "The Pepsi Iron Works" then that would be a sell out.
Changing some aspect of game play in a way that some people don't like is not a sell out. If you like Civ II better, then go play Civ II.
