The problem with sim move as i see it is that someone always gets 2 moves and wins an encounter they should have lost. What we need is Sim until a turn or 2 before races make contact. That way we get the early explore/build done at the same time without the disadvantage of a 2 move kill.

For me, the simultaneous moves didn't have to be available anyway. It is after all a turnbased game and theoretically I want to have all the time in the world for every decision I have to make.

Only the management of cities may be simultaneous. That would save some time, without losing gameplay.

Even in real life leaders 'usually' have days or even weeks to think about a problem.

I think that to simulate that, turn based strategy 'barely' does it justice because there are still only minutes 'or seconds' to think about strategies which are in paralel 'just as crucial', keeping in mind that it's only a game

Therefore sim play is a disaster! I can't stand it, I hate it, I HATE the word with a passion!

It totally distorts the fairness and consistency of a game that is supposed to be strategy.

I have also had 'friendly' argumentative discussions with people who try to defend sim play. I feel sorry for those individials. Civ is not for sim play, and in my opinion, anyone that plays it may as well throw the mouse and keyboard away and get a sony complete with a joypad and can play 'tongue poking out to the left and right' games to their hearts content.

Civ is a strategy. The ONLY way to play a game of strategy, is turn based.

Although I do agree with 'Matrix the fearless MODERATOR' in saying:
Only the management of cities may be simultaneous. That would save some time, without losing gameplay.

This is merely sensible. It would be great if such a system was devised.

I think this has been discussed before and shot down before, but I have to agree with Mr. Len on this one. There are plenty of Real time games if that's what you're into. The point of a strategy game is to think about what you're doing. Can't do that if you're just reacting.
