Im going to take a stab in the dark here and say that this will be Simón Bolivar’s unique ability:

El Liberador

When you liberate any capital, you automatically control all cities belonging to the civilisation whose capital you liberated (if any). Cities with Governors lose -5 loyalty per turn and have -1 amenity.

I suspect Bolivar's ability will be a combat bonus against civs whose capital is located on other continents.

I expect the ability to be the next step towards a liberator after trying with Australia's Citadel of Civilization and Robert Bruce's Bannockburn.

I think we will know in ten hours, Macedon and Persia had first looks back to back.

Maybe he has his own Casus belli. Or like maya also a penalty of some sorts.

Liberating cities is just too situational to be useful, I feel. Sadly the way Civ is structured does not lend itself to “Wars of Independence”, as Gran Colombia will start the game as independent as anyone else!

I suspect he will just have a conquest bonus dresses up as “liberation”, a bit like how the Mapuche get their anti-colonial bonus even if they’re on the offensive.

I can see Bolívar and his llaneros riding into your city now: “we are happy to liberate our Colombian brothers in *checks notes* China!”.

Why would Bolivar's ability have anything to do with him liberating *other* civilizations' cities? Besides, doesn't Lautaro do the same thing already? Just because his nickname was "El Libertador" (which sounds more like an Agenda name than a LUA to me), doesn't mean "liberating" will be a focal point. I expect something loyalty-related, or if not plausible, a culturally strong defensive warmonger.

Simon Bolívar fought more battles than napoleon did and spread the seeds of revolution against the Spanish empire. The Spanish empire collapsed soon after so it makes sense that rapid expansion would be his MO.

Bolívar struggled with federalists as President of Columbia, so having penalties for Governors in cities would fit this.

My guess is tuesday, but I guess we'll know soon enough.
I think Tuesday as well - though of course would be very happy to see another FL today!

For owners of R&F, Simon Bolivar spawns in game with 6 military units the first time a city turns into a Free City :p

(That's an additional gimmick like Sweden's)
---

For his ability: Additional military strength to all alliance types when facing a common enemy. Reduced military strength from unsupported wars.

Wait, what?

So to take your suggestion/idea as an example in the following scenario.

Gran Colombia, Mongolia and Gandhi are on a landmass. Mongolia attacks Gandhi and takes his capital. Gandhi's 10 other cities are fine and he's making a comeback. Meanwhile, Gran Colombia joins the fight to help Gandhi and takes Gandhi's original capital, and BAM, Gandhi is out of the game.

Gandhi lost his entire empire because you liberated his capital, did I read that correctly? :crazyeye:

Please don't design games... :p

Going a little unorthodox here, but what if he could do a special recruit partisan mission? Maybe he doesn't need neighborhoods? Or can do it without a spy somehow? Either way, stirring up rebels in neighboring lands. Something along those lines.

No matter what they choose for him, I predict they will be giving this man some glorious sideburns.

I agree with @Lord Lakely that El Libertador might be the name of his agenda.
Campaña Admirable (Admirable Campaign) sounds more fitting for an ability name. Though I guess either could work.
I think just a combat strength over cities and units whose capital is on another continent is probably the case or if their capital is not on your home continent.
Something to do with War of Liberation would make sense but Robert the Bruce already has that ability, unless they change it.

Only if those other cities are controlled by another player. Sorry, I should’ve said that all the other cities would be liberated
