I'm only sad that by the time real awesome 3D stuff comes out I'll be kind of old and my kids will make fun of me for being an old person who sucks at new things.

Probably because I'm getting past all that. It does happen. After a while. If you live long enough.

And how would it differ from prostitution? You can bet there's a real woman at the other end of the simulation somewhere along the line.

When it comes to actual androids, they won't pass through the whole uncanny valley effect in my life time anyway imo... so women will be won't be obsolete until then!

You raise a good point. I think a good number of people would be uncomfortable with the idea of sex robots, especially if these "robots" are programmed to act very human.
 
I'm saying the only convincing way to get a robot to behave sexily is to have a woman (or man) perform the "programming" role. So the program is just a recording of the sexual act, if you like.

Well, the programming is just a media so it's more inline with pornography and not really prostitution. that is if you believe that there is a difference.

See now. What is the difference? I certainly don't see any fundamental difference.
 
legally, all it takes is a camera :p

but yeah morally i really don't know. since my moral objection to prostitution (if any) stems from human trafficking/abuse issues and none of religious issues. pornography in most cases do not concern with those. That isnt to say porn actresses cant be abused. anyways its a complex subject that i cant be arsed to sort out atm!
