Single Player MP: "Leader Passing"

OK. Session over. I'll follow it up with how the epic tale goes down.

Ending at turn 80, 2000 BC, the king of Biblical Proportions, Floating Pants, life had come to an end. But his almighty legend and empire shall live on. The 2000 years he had ruled were glorious, and all the citizens shall miss him.

Pffft i didn't vote for him.

All hail king Shafi!

The great Shafi-is-back has had enough of these un-grateful peasants, and has decided to leave his kingdom and retire to the Bahama's (A mythical land in the great ocean)

He hands over his kindom to Prince Turin but also names XRW175P6MQ4 as the sucsessor to Turin for his loyalty.

Righty-ho heres the save then.

ps - i have removed my dot map since leaving it there would also be considered communication right?

Hey guys,

I like the idea for the game, but how about doing some write-ups for all the lurkers and putting them in spoilers?

I would have volunteered to be king for 80 turns if my computer wasn't already packed for the big move.

shadow to T160...

I took the opportunity (had some free time before sleep) and took it a bit forward...

Spoiler :
Wow my cty sites were almost identical except that the city blocking shaka and one other city was about one tile off. I'm amazed at how much you have been able to do though ... i still have to settle the 3 sites around the capital and the first settler is being built. And you built the TGL too  , i thought of it but couldnt find the time to do it i think. Shouldnt you be having more defenses on the border city with Shaka?, how soon would he DoW???

Sounds good. We should do that for the next game. If i was lurking i would like to see what each player was thinking. In fact after doing my turnset i think i would definitely be interested in seeing what was going throught the other guys minds ...

Odd I just naturally assumed we were going to do spoilered write ups. I was planning on doing the usually arbitrarily taken screenshots with my thoughts typed underneath.

What I do sometimes is load an earlier save and take a screenshot. Works decent since I save often. I blame Baldur's gate. Maybe you don't get the exact shot but you can kinda show the progression of things.

I checked the save you provide... there are 2 big differences between us...

you have too many trees and you didn't settle the copper, which is strong due to its food and trees around to chop.

the GLH was just plain luck... I got GE as first GP instead of spy. At first the plan was to use him for HG (which isn't great), on higher levels I would opt for TGL with the GE, but since I was not planning to go with Aesth line I was thinking about some other wonder.
Seeing the GLH wasn't away and the number of coastal cities I planned to lay it was pretty simple to change the plan for him.

As for the "shaka situation". I think more danger can come from Vicky, but seeing the power rating... well I think I should be able to cover quickly, if i concentrate a bit forces in the north.

oh btw the cottage on the flood plain under capital was wrong move and should be really farm. The surplus food is not stellar this way.

Anyone heard from Turin? Odd how he hasn't even said anything about downloading the game...

I downloaded and started the game, but I am going to take my time and actually pay close attention to my decisions.

Alright, just checking if you're active. Hope it turns out good, and we'll see just how much can be accomplished in 80 turns.

Ha ha. If I take charge, I'll delete half the worker-force. "Shrink the size of the federal government." That's my plan!

Note to the player that plays before MarigoldRan: rename all units to be named "Worker" and see what he does with that situation. ;)

Hear that? marigold wants to delete half the jobs. When I am named king I promise to create jobs not destroy them.

I am XRW175P6MQ4 and I approve this message.

No! It's people like you who will ruin our country's future and budget. We must cut the federal government, lower taxes for the rich, and engage in democracy-promoting military crusades for the well-being of our country and the world!

*excerpt from a televised conference*
Democracies are large inefficient, ineffective, beasts that are ran by self righteous egomaniacs that are selected by a popularity contest.

Can a leader make decisions that are in the nations best interest when he is more concerned with public appearance?

Can a vote be taken for every major policy decision?

Can the votes be decided by bus loads of special interest groups paid for by politicians looking to buy votes?

No, I think not.

As your future leader I urge the people to not be swayed by the lies of democracy. Long ago communism was tried and failed. Just like communism before it democracy has failed as well. Look at the Americans. They have been living with a democracy for over 200 years! Are they happy with this government? Are they united? I think not.

I offer you an autocratic government ran by myself. All decisions will be made for the people. There will be no hesitancy or delay as with certain less effective government types. The democrats would have you hold national elections for every trivial decision. These elections are both expensive and time consuming. Taxes would have to be raised to afford voting expenses. Most people don't even vote when given the option!

Jobs will be increased. Every citizen whether male or female. Black or white. Genius or mentally impaired will be assigned a workplace fitting to his or her skill level. The land will be worked and jobs provided in abundance. Under the democrats rule the rich would receive tax cuts. Do you want that? The rich take much from the people. They lord their money over you and abuse their power. I plan to cut the rich and give the tax cuts to the poor.

Defense will be increased. Every citizen deserves to live in a safe country. No person should fear invasion from an outside force. To serve this purpose the military should be large enough to 1 discourage hostile countries from warring with us and 2 to repel and retaliate against those foolhardy enough to attack us. The democrats would leave us crippled and defenseless. We would be the whipping boys of the world. Do you want that?

Science will be increased if possible. Great lengths will be taken to improve trade relations with our neighbors. And if only absolutely necessary certain scientific advancements will be forcibly liberated from our neighbors and distributed amongst our people and allies.

@XRW

still hears like some kind of communism :).

Since I am from country where we lived 40 years in socialism (the prephase for communism) I approve that socialism economics just doesn't function.

Very popular saying here in that time was "who doesn't steal, robs his family"... so everyone robbed state where he could.
Other problem being... when everyone has a job and can't be fired, everyone gives a ... about what he actually does in his job...

We had plans that were filled over 100%, but on the other hand we didn't had toilet paper (and had to use newspaper instead) and food and services was crap (the most successful people were the ones who knew good butcher and car-mechanic since otherwise you were pretty screwed)

Too bad people these days forget these lessons taught by SSSR and generally east block.

Oh I forgot to mention my special jobs for the motivationally impaired.

Front line infantry.

. . .

Someone fetch vranasm a bullseye uniform and a cardboard gun.
