Sirius Intra-Team Pitboss Game!

Up again now.

850 BC: The blundering Roman Army marches forward into the abandoned town of York, pillaging the empty houses before burning it to the ground. Meanwhile, Genghis Khan's elite cavalry units emerge from the jungles, springing the trap and razing a inconsequential border city in retaliation for the destruction of the town of York.
OK the role playing (if any) but why you fight a war to raze cities? Those are settled by humans, so presumably in good spots. Too difficult to defend and move on with the war perhaps?

I thought so long as a City had gotten above Pop 1 that being reduced to Pop 1 no longer Auto-Razed? I have captured cities that had been whipped to Pop 1 before.

Ah I can see no culture being a factor then. So had this been a higher cultured city the citizens would have made an attempt to preserve the city. If it's nothing more then a tiny village then they all scamper to the four winds and by by city.

I don't know what actually happened, Irgy actually played the turn. My post was, entirely jokingly, a reply to this, though.

The Dutch empire has sad news to report today. Shortly after the heroic and merciful liberation of York by Roman forces, the Mongolian horde emerged from the jungle near a Dutch border city. As the event logs record: "850 BC: Women +Children has been razed by the Mongolian Empire!!!"

We have seen the true nature of our barbaric oponents.

The previous ruthless owners had whipped to death almost every single citizen, and by the time we liberated what was left of them there was nothing left of the city (i.e. it was pop 1 and auto-razed).

I think AlphaShard is correct. I've seen Dave's comment, but it never happened to me.

But Dave can be right, culture can have a role in this.

Interestingly, York was not auto-razed, and it had significantly less culture than "Women+Children". It had been above 1 pop in the past, but so had "Women+Children" I thought (actually I'm not really sure of this). The only thing it did have was a lot of food - enough to grow in one turn's time.

I just played and was connected "by peer Dave Shack".
But he is the host, isn't he?
Well it's possible Dave has a computer hosting and plays with another.
If not...computers are strange things.

Dave apparently forgot he was logged into the game, and left it for 5 hours. So that would be why he was connected when you logged in. :p

I would bet that Dave hosts the game on one server and plays on his own computer, just like everyone else. ;)

I've noticed that many of us often forgot to end turn before log out.

Please keep an eye on this (better two) to avoid lose time.

I know it can happen, but...

Yeah... if fed1943 doesn't log back in before the turn flip, it'll be nearly 12 hours lost. We could have been on the next turn 2.5 hours ago. Ah well.

I play on the same computer as the server, but when I'm logged in it still creates a client/server relationship between bts and pitboss, and peer relationships between my bts and the other player's.

I report that the combined armies of Ethiopia and France, heroically driven by Napoleon (who else?), have removed the pathetic and primitive "civilisation" of Maya from the planet.

Allons enfant...

This post has nothing to do with our intra-team game, but with CivStats.

I've checked their FAQ but I'm still unclear;

Can anyone tell me if loging in will give me additional info on the game?

Also, how do I use just the password?...Or will I need to create an account (even if I currently don't have a pitboss client) to use it with the given password(in this case "sirus")?

server down. PM sent to Dave

You can't log into this game until it is complete.

It took me a few times reading through to understand what you're asking here... it isn't quite clear.

To answer your questions, creating a Civstats account doesn't give you any other information on any of the games it records. All it does is enables you to recieve email notifications of new turns if you're in that game. As you're not presently in this game, you should not attempt to register as any civ in this game, because you may be blocking another player from getting email notifications of new turns. Not to mention you have no need for these notifications if you aren't playing in the game.

As for email notifications of new turns in the main MTDG, if you want them you can talk to Irgy and he'll explain how to set that up. Basically it's an email forward from our team email account.

Hope that clarifies it. :)
