Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me here.

I bought Civ4 when it came out and it ran fine on my laptop. However, these days when I try load a save it take up to 10 minutes to load. The loadig bar gets to done quite quickly but it will hang there for the rest of the time. When it finally does load the game is unplayably slow and jittery.

Even when I start a new tiny world game its barely playable these days. Any idea what I can do to imrpove this?

I to have been having problems with poor performance, everything runs smoother than a peguins arse at 1st but after a while it steadly gets more and more juddery, my PC is an AMD FX-55, 2 x Nvidia 6800gt's in Sli, with 1 gig of ddr ram, and should b able to run it without even breaking a sweat

I tried the pixel shader thing, seemed to help a little but its still not playable. Any more ideas, anyone?

I too have this problem on my PC at home. Its a 3200+ Athlon with 1 gb ram 8x AGP FX5900XT (with 128 MB RAM on video) and a 7200 RPM hard drive. I should not be having performance issues with this kind of game. I have no problems at all with my laptop which has less horsepower in all areas than my PC at home. One thing to note is my laptop does have an ATI card (whereas my home PC is an Nvidia).

I tried the pixel shader thing (changed it form 1.4 to 1.3) and it seemd to fix the problem until the first in-game movie popped up (first time another civ came in contact with me).

I havn't tried too much yet but I will post in this thread my fix (when I find it). I plan on trying the new Nvidia drivers tonight (might try old ones too).
