slow down and unit naming

I searched for a while, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I don't like how units are named swordsman1, swordsman2, etc.. And after upgrading them it becomes swordsman2(maceman).

Is there any easy way to just have the units named as the game does unmodded?

Also, the game has slowed down a lot in one specfic area. Clicking on units in a stack. Before the mod, I could add units to the stack(shift/click) as fast as my finger could go. After the mod, its a good 1-2 second wait between clicking on units. Any way to speed it up?

Great mod!! I really like diplo screen with the fists and faces. Excellent.
 
OK, saw the tip in the game to use cntrl alt O

Removed the unit naming, will see if that speeds up the unit selection problem.
 
Turning off Unit Naming will fix the first issue but not the second. For that you want to switch the Draw Method on the Unit Icons tab to BUG instead of PLE. PLE gives you more options, but it definitely slows down in the end game.
 
Is it specifically "Draw Style" set to PLE that slows down the game? There are other PLE settings there and it's not clear what's what.
 
Correct, the PLE style hasn't been optimized for large stacks.
There are 3 draw options, PLE, BUG and Vanilla. PLE and Vanilla will be slow for large stacks if you show all of the unit goodies (promo frame, upgrade, GG star, etc). The BUG draw method was specifically written to be fast for large stacks.
