Here's obelisk for SMAC
(but you can use it for other mods like magical obelisk etc) - around 100 triangles, 128x128 texture.

Unfortunatelly i wasn't able to geth both glowing and alpha channel - so the glow cames come from texture (no glowing in the darkness)

Terrific work asio. Something to find in the wreckage or random resource.
 
You know, in the Rise of Rome scenario (Warlords) there's this obelisk that emits a glow (6 different colors IIRC). Perhaps you guys could learn something from studying these .nif files?
 
Is there art stuff to unpak with Warlords? I have yet to look at any of those nifs.
 
I've encounter two problems - depending wich shading method i use:

1. When i choose civ4 shader - i cannot set the transparencey - so shadows are black everywhere and doesn't melt on the ground. - I don't know why it's happening but it's connected to the team collors and i don't know how to change this. For sure firaxis use it also for transparency. And glow with civ shader are very good.

2. Using standard shader - the glow shines but all the stones becomes darkbrown/black - it's way to dark

But going to bed yesterday i think that i'll make shadow and obelisk as two separate objects - shadow will have standard shader and obelisk with civ4 shader.
Another idea i've get (and i make both ideas i think) it's to give icbm animations so the top circle would flash :)
